Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, during the meeting of the faculty council in its entirety, honoring the student Bishoy Nabil, the fourth year student in the Spanish Department, after receiving the first place award in the Spanish Egyptology Champions competition, and delivering the award several days ago at the headquarters of the Spanish Embassy in Cairo, which is a certificate approved by the Embassy of Spain in the victory of the student, received by the Ambassador, Mr. Albaro Iranzo Gutierrez, and a gift catalog from the Spanish Embassy entitled “Inspection trips to the archaeological sites in Upper Egypt and the Edward Toda Archive” written by the curators Dr. Miguel Angel Molinero Polo and Dr. Andrea Rodriguez Valls from Laguna University, where the exhibition was held in Cairo from September 15 to October 7 last, organized by the Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Spain in Egypt in cooperation with the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, said that the Faculty administration is proud of its distinguished students, explaining that the students of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University are stars that shine in the sky of the world, carrying a great deal of knowledge they gained during their studies at the hands of human cadres of professors specialized in the fields of translation.
She pointed out that the role of Al-Alsun students and graduates is to transfer cultures and knowledge in various languages of the world, stressing that Egypt’s gateway to the world is Al-Alsun Faculty, adding that the faculty administration spares no effort in providing all possibilities through which it provides a high-level educational service to students, and the faculty appreciates the efforts of Its children in various fields and provides them with moral support, honoring them and giving them certificates of appreciation among their professors and fellow students to develop a sense of belonging to the faculty.
The student Bishoy Nabil extended his sincere thanks to the President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini and Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, the faculty vice deans and the head of the Spanish language department, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Saghir and the professors gathered in the faculty council, referring to the Spanish language professor and the external relations officer of the Spanish language department, Dr. Maryam Mahmoud Makki Ali escorted him to receive the award at the embassy.
He briefly presented the details of the catalog and its importance, especially about Edward Toda, who held the position of Spanish Vice Consul in Cairo between 1884 and 1886 and is considered the most famous predecessor of Spanish Egyptology on Egyptian soil, where he was able to cooperate in one of the most outstanding discoveries in ancient Thebes ((modern Luxor) in February 1886 is the untouched Sin-Najm cemetery, noting the grandeur of the archival photographs in the catalog.
