The Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams hosts a Moroccan critic Prof. Dr. Mohamed Meshbal, Professor of Rhetoric and Criticism at King Saadi University in Tetouan

The Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University hosted the Moroccan critic, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Meshbal, Professor of Rhetoric and Criticism at King Saadi University in Tetouan, at the inaugural symposium of the series of scientific lectures that are held during the period of the “Visiting Professor” program, which was prepared by the Arabic Language Department and lasts for 3 days.

The visit is under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Hanan Kamel, Acting Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sherine Mazloum, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and coordinating Prof. Dr. Manal Muharram, Head of the Arabic Language Department, and prepared by Dr. Hoda Attia, a teacher in the department.

In her welcoming speech, Prof. Dr. Hanan Kamel: said that this scientific hosting comes within the framework of activity and cultural exchange between faculties of arts at the level of the Arab world. In the field of literary criticism and rhetoric.

And Prof. Dr. Muhammad Meshbal gave a lecture entitled: “Manifestations of Rhetoric and Its Extensions” for postgraduate students and researchers.

   
   
   
   

Prof. Dr. "Meshbal" expressed his happiness during his presence in Egypt, saying: "I feel that I got the fourth prize by being in the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, amidst this hospitality and warm reception, which ignited my emotions." He also expressed his Egyptian passion, saying: "I consider myself a descendant of Egyptian culture as if I were a hybrid." A Moroccan-Egyptian identity that I am proud of.” The audience also enjoyed watching a documentary film prepared by the organizing committee, about his writings on the science of rhetoric in its various types, such as the rhetoric of political discourse and rhetoric of biography, rhetoric and renaissance, Egyptian passion in the imagination of Moroccans, secrets of rhetorical criticism, Egypt in the eyes of Moroccans, And many authors.

The documentary also reviewed the awards he received.

Prof. Dr. "Meshbal" confirmed that was raised literary to absorb and digest the works of Egyptian writers who made the Arab renaissance such as Taha Hussein and Naguib Mahfouz, and met with their students and was influenced by them, in contrast to the methodological power that characterized the works of Moroccan writers, which were shrouded in ambiguity and mysteries.

And Prof. Dr. Muhammad Meshbal, demanded returning the modern Arabic critical practice to the field of rhetoric, noting the need to return to the concepts: of "Make yourself" and "The text is you."

The lecture aimed to benefit researchers and postgraduate students and inform them of the new or expanded rhetorical approaches, as the guest put it.

It is worth noting that Prof. Dr. "Meshbal" heads the Rhetoric and Discourse Analysis Team at the Faculty of Arts at King Saadi University in Tetouan, Morocco. He recently won the King Faisal International Prize in Arabic Language and Literature at its forty-third session in 2021, and he had previously won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award in the Arts and Critical Studies branch. In 2018 for his book (On the Rhetoric of the Pilgrims: Towards a Rhetorical Argumentative Approach to Analyzing Discourse), and he also won the “Katara” Prize for the Arabic Novel in the Critical Studies category in 2018 for his study (The Novel and Rhetoric towards an Expanded Rhetorical Approach to the Arabic Novel).

Prof. Dr. Hanan Kamel honored the guest and handed him the memorial shield of the Faculty of Arts; Welcoming him and appreciating his useful scientific visit.
