And to the text of the dialogue:

First, what are the developments of the medical city project?

The medical city will be opened at the end of 2023, and it is a dream for all Egyptians, because its main goal is to provide medical service at the highest level free of charge, and this service is provided in the most developed countries in the world, and the medical city is divided into several axes, including the establishment of new hospitals To provide services that did not exist before, or to collect services in one place, to facilitate the patient, so we have an emergency hospital that has no equal in its management system in Egypt, and we signed an agreement with the most famous international medical centers in the United States of America, for work programs inside the hospital, so it will be We have a model applied in the United States of America, that is, we do not build a hospital in the traditional system.

What else does the medical city include?

- The city includes a specialized children's surgery hospital, which is concerned with pediatric surgeries in all specialties, so we collected all surgeries in one entity, so that the child receives all services in the same place, which makes it easier for the hospital administration to provide the required service, and we are also working to raise the efficiency of places that already existed , including the building of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, and the redevelopment of the blood bank, as a blood bank will provide international studies and research, as well as the development of the children's hospital.

We combined pediatric surgeries in one hospital and an emergency hospital with a capacity of 260 beds. The old children’s hospital is being developed, pediatric surgery rooms are being established, the emergency hospital with a capacity of 260 beds has been completed and equipped with the latest medical equipment, and intensive care, operating rooms, and internal and educational departments are being completed in the Hospital for Cardiothoracic and Vascular Diseases and Surgery, the completion of the development of the Combined Operations Unit in the Surgery Hospital, the development and restoration of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, and we also established the Ain Shams University Virtual Hospital to provide integrated training programs for doctors.

How much does the medical city cost?

- The cost is one and a half billion, and the state contributes a great deal to the support.

What are the percentages of achievement in the city?

- The completion rate in the Emergency Hospital reached about 70%, and for the Pediatric Surgery Hospital, the completion rate reached 20%.

What is the position of the oncology hospital?

- Full coordination is underway with an English consulting office to develop a vision for building it at the latest level: “We are currently in the stage of drawing up drawings and exchanging experiences.”

Is the city in line with going green?

- Yes, the agricultural area in our hospitals used to represent 3% and now it is 40%, and globally it is 42%, so we removed slums and built a wall surrounding university hospitals, in addition to working on planting trees.

The work programs will be according to a model applied in America and we will reach the reception of 2 million cases annually.

How many cases do Ain Shams University hospitals receive?

- We currently receive one and a half million cases annually, and we will reach more than two million cases, because improving the service ensures an increase in hospital visitors, by reducing waiting times for emergencies and care.

What is your comment on the lack of beds in university hospitals?

- We have a capacity of internal beds and nurseries, and we have dealt with complaints of lack of beds by preparing places in the emergency where we receive patients for a period of up to 48 hours, and development work is working to provide a service of international standards quality, and we cannot place beds next to each other, so we must combat Infection, which requires regulating the entry and exit of patients, and the most extreme cases have priority.

What is the role of virtual clinics, “remote treatment”?

- Ain Shams University hospitals are unique from other universities in implementing virtual clinics "remote treatment", which is very important in use in remote areas and places that do not have medical competencies and provide services in African and Arab regions, and the aim is to reduce the influx to the medical city and provide services At the highest level, providing fast service, providing service to citizens in remote places, and participating in treatment.

What is your response to doubts about the free service provided to patients?

All emergency cases are 100% free, and treatment is guaranteed to all citizens at the expense of the state, health insurance and comprehensive health insurance. All of these areas guarantee full treatment for patients in university hospitals, and there is no patient who pays money in university hospitals unless a case wishes to deal in the “economic sector.” According to an announced price map, the patient does not deal with a doctor, but with the hospital.

And we have an academic plan for the development of the medical sector, and therefore we carry out development in all sectors of curricula and system in order to produce distinguished medical cadres who are able to compete. We also strive to achieve the medical city, and the Faculty of Medicine includes 10 thousand students, of whom 6 thousand are in postgraduate studies from inside and outside Egypt.
