The seventeenth conference of the Department of Natural Medicine, Rheumatology, and Rehabilitation, at the Faculty of Medicine

The seventeenth conference of the Department of Physical Medicine, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University recommended paying attention to early diagnosis of rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, using modern methods of diagnosis and determining the appropriate treatment plan for each patient, taking into account the risk factors for disease and treatment.

The conference, which lasted on January 11 and 12, witnessed the inauguration of its activities by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Hala Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Amal Al-Ganzouri, Chairman of the Conference and Head of the Department of Rheumatology, Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine.

         
   
         

The inauguration was also witnessed by Major General Doctor Reda Al-Hamimi, Head of the Agouza Rehabilitation Center in the Armed Forces, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Al-Tayeb, former President of Helwan University, and Professor Dr. Samir Al-Badawi, one of the symbols of specialization in Egypt and the Middle East, and Prof. Dr. Heinaz Farouk, Vice President of the Conference, in addition to a group of Egyptian scholars and experts from different countries of the world.

As usual, at the department conference, Prof. Dr. Amal Al-Ganzouri and the organizing committee brought in eight foreign lecturers from different countries of the world such as America, England, Denmark, Italy, Belgium, and the United Kingdom, who are considered pioneers of specialization and distinguished scientific peaks.

The conference witnessed unique and powerful scientific sessions through the work of a mixture of these pioneers and professors of the department and professors of Egyptian universities such as Cairo, Alexandria, Tanta, Canal, Fayoum, and Al-Azhar University, in addition to professors from the armed forces and military medicine, in the presence of nearly five hundred Egyptian and Arab attendees.

The conference shed light on the presidential initiatives and efforts to treat myasthenia gravis in children and revealed modern treatment methods.

One of the most important points of the conference’s recommendations was how to early diagnose these children, and through more than ten various scientific sessions, everything related to rheumatic diseases was discussed, starting from methods of prevention and diagnosis with the latest scientific methods and the latest findings of experts in terms of treatment methods, and the conference revealed the latest drugs used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis, and the development of medical recommendations for their optimal use, which were among the distinctive points in the recommendations of the conference.

         
   
         

The great osteoporosis disease had a special interest on the part of the lecturers to provide a prescription for preserving the health of the bones of the Egyptians and getting rid of bad habits that lead to osteoporosis, and in a more than wonderful session, the conference allowed the presentation of rare cases and how to deal with them.

Prof. Dr. Amal Al-Ganzouri concluded the conference by honoring the symbols of the department and specialization, as well as the young scientists who competed scientifically on the sidelines of the activities of one of the largest scientific conferences in Egypt.

It is noteworthy that the conference was preceded by four training workshops at the hands of the department’s professors, professors from the National Research Center, and two experts, one Belgian and the other Italian, in order to train young doctors in various fields, namely early diagnosis using a diagnostic microscope, muscle mapping, and the use of sound waves to diagnose nerve and muscle diseases.

The Department of Rheumatology, Rehabilitation, and Physical Medicine at Ain Shams University is one of the leading departments in the field of early diagnosis using diagnostic ultrasound and muscle mapping. The conference presented modern international recommendations in this field.
