An international conference entitled Foreign Languages and Cultures… Mother Languages and Cultures: Links and Relationships in Faculty of Al-Alsun in cooperation with INALCO

The Department of French at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, organized an international conference under the title "Foreign Languages and Cultures...Mother Languages and Cultures: Links and Relations", in cooperation with the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations "INALCO", the French Institute and the LAC Research Network, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Yomna Safwat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Rania Adel, Head of the Department, Prof. Alawiya Al-Hakim, a professor of French at the department, in the presence of a group of French professors from foreign universities, led by Dr. Thomas Zand, head of the scientific research team (BLIDAM) of the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations in Paris, and Dr. Heba Lowcock from the Higher School of Interpreters and Translators (Ezit), Dr. Joel Bobino from the University of Tours, France, Dr. Monica Cesarmi of Hiroshima University and Dr. Iman Massoud Sidri from Inalco.

     
 
     

A large number of professors from various Egyptian universities participated, such as Al-Azhar University, Helwan University, Suez Canal University and Kafr El-Sheikh University, as well as the interventions of professors from the French Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University.

Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, received the delegation and reviewed with him the programs offered by the Faculty and accompanied them on a field visit to the electronic halls.

Prof. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, with Professor Thomas Zand, discussed ways of cooperation in postgraduate programs.

The conference activities included 8 sessions on several themes: translation and interpretation, language and education, literature and arts, and digital innovations. The conference dealt with the problem of culture between the Arabic and French languages in language, literature, translation, and the links between cultures and the mother tongue.

The lecturers also touched on the need to link culture, language learning and translation in various disciplines, especially legal and specialized translations.
