The best at the European Society of Oncology conference for the first time in Egypt

The activities of the first conference "BEST of ESMO Egypt" were held in the Arab Republic of Egypt, from January 26 to 27, 2023, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University and Professor of Liver Surgery.

The European Society for Oncology (ESMO) conference is the largest conference in the world, which is held annually in the presence of thousands of experts in the field of oncology from all over the world to exchange global views and experiences, and to develop treatment recommendations for various types of tumors. The latest conference of the European Society for Oncology was held in Paris, France in September of last year.

         
   
         

Prof. Amr Shafiq, Professor of Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, director of the Oncology Hospital at Ain Shams University Hospitals, and one of the chairmen of the organizing committee of the conference, explained that the holding of the "Best in the European Society Conference" conference in Egypt for the first time is a great achievement and important for transferring experiences and keeping pace with new developments in the world of oncology for doctors in Egypt, after obtaining the necessary license from the European Society for Oncology (ESMO) to hold a conference in Egypt to present the results of the research that was presented at the Paris 2022 conference.

He added that during the conference, research and lectures were presented by more than 60 professors and consultants of oncology from various universities and oncology centers from different parts of the country, in addition to the presence of strong and effective discussions with more than 100 professors of oncology during the conference sessions, amid a strong presence of hundreds of doctors in The field of oncology treatment from different governorates of the Republic, who expressed their happiness with the establishment of this important event in Egypt for the first time and the experiences gained from attending the conference sessions, which touched on all that is new in the treatment of various types of tumors.

The conference recommended the need for continuous medical education, follow-up, and keeping abreast of the latest methods of diagnosing and treating tumors in the world, as well as following modern treatment lines and applying them in Egypt to provide the best possible medical service and increasing recovery rates for oncology patients in Egypt.

The organizing committee of the conference was chaired by a group of professors of oncology in Egypt, and they are Prof. Hossam Al-Ashtoukhi (conference president), consultant and head of the oncology department at the Tanta Cancer Center, Prof. Amr Shafiq, professor of oncology at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University and director of the Oncology Hospital at Ain Shams University Hospitals Prof. Salem Eid, Professor of Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, and Prof. Mohamed Farouk, Professor of Oncology at Alexandria University.
