The Faculty of Medicine, headed by Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty, received the "Children's University" delegation, which is organized by Ain Shams University and funded by the Academy of Scientific Research, during the period from January 28 to February 11, 2023, and it includes 80 children.
This is under the supervision and coordination of Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Department and Coordinator of the Children's University at Ain Shams University, Dr. Mustafa Al-Shahed, Coordinator of the Children's University at the Faculty of Medicine. The activities of the day took place during two sessions, the first focused on healthy nutrition, and Dr. Hadeer Al-Mahdi, Assistant Lecturer of Public Health, gave a lecture and she stressed on the importance of a balanced diet and the role of different food groups in maintaining good health for children, also teach them the benefits of eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, as well as how to make healthy food choices when eating out.
The second session, which was delivered by Dr. Nabila Raouf, public health teacher at the faculty, focused on self-hygiene and the importance of maintaining good personal hygiene practices to prevent the spread of diseases. Children were also taught correct hand-washing methods, and the importance of regular bathing and brushing their teeth.
The computer lab, simulation lab, and recording studio provided the children with practical experience in the latest technologies used in the field of medicine. They were able to see how simulations are used for practical experiments and various medical procedures. The simulation lab also provided a unique opportunity to observe how medical procedures are simulated using the latest technology, while the recording studio showed the children how to make and store medical recordings for use in teaching.
