Under the auspices of Mrs. Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbagh, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, and within the framework of the efforts of the Presidential Initiative for Equal Educational Opportunities, which is implemented by the Ministry of Social Solidarity in cooperation with the Orman Association in Egyptian universities, the Social Solidarity Unit at Ain Shams University organized under the supervision and the guidance of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Salah Hashem, Advisor to the Minister of Social Solidarity and General Coordinator of Social Solidarity Units in Egyptian Universities, the celebration of distributing laptops to people with visual impairments, “faculty staff, teaching assistants, and administrators.”
In the presence of Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Prof. Abdel Nasser Mohamed Rashad, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, and in the coordination of Prof. Jihan Ragab, Advisor to the Vice President for Environment Sector Affairs, Dr. Rana Al-Hilali, Director of the Disability Service Center at the University.
In his speech during the celebration, Prof. Ayman Saleh emphasized the university's endeavor to establish a vocational diploma to qualify qualified cadres to assist and rehabilitate the blind, which is the first vocational diploma in Egypt established for this purpose.
He valued the enthusiasm of all parties and their cooperation in overcoming obstacles in front of the visually challenged faculty staff, teaching assistants, and administrators.
Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, thanked the Ministry of Solidarity for its continuous support and cooperation with the university and thanked Prof. Ayman Saleh for his keenness to attend today's events.
She pointed out that the idea of challenging disability and overcoming obstacles is embodied today in a tangible way in the honorees.
Prof. Salwa Rashad praised the cooperation between the parties, congratulating the honorees, led by Prof. Abdel Nasser, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University.
She explained that the Faculty of Al-Alsun has the honor of being one of the most faculties that receive blind students, and among the ranks of its faculty staff there are many diligent challengers with disabilities.
Prof. Salah Hashem indicated that this celebration comes within the framework of the state's efforts to achieve social justice and equal social opportunities among students in Egyptian universities. The ministry has provided (2000) laptops for students with visual impairments in Egyptian universities so that students with insight can study without an intermediary and be tested without a companion, which enables them to obtain their right to education to the best of their abilities.
At the end of the celebration, 11 equipped laptops were distributed to the members of the faculty staff, teaching assistants, and the administrators who are blind at the university.
