The Faculty of Arts, at Ain Shams University, launched the activities of (The First Word Cultural Festival), which includes competitions in: (The art of writing and reciting poetry - writing short stories in Arabic and English - writing essays), under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, supervised by Suha Al-Saba, Director of the Youth Welfare Department, and coordinated by Mrs. Ghada Ahmed, Head of the Cultural Committee in the Department.
Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, confirmed that the competition aims to discover talented students in the literary fields, while the Youth Welfare Department, in cooperation with the Student Union, provides free workshops and training courses to motivate students to be creative and work on developing their abilities in all fields. The contestants were evaluated by monitoring points of distinction of items such as presentation and diction skills, soundness of language, pronunciation of words, diversity of vocabulary, and choice of ideas.
The jury consisted of each of Dr. Nadia Hashish, an English literature teacher at the faculty, and Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hamid, a teacher in the Arabic Language Department.
The competition was organized by the Faculty Students Union, headed by student Helmy Ahmed, his deputy, student Walaa Tayseer, student Salwa Amr, Secretary of the Cultural Committee, and Assistant Secretary Daniel Samer.
