The President of Ain Shams University and his Vice President for Postgraduate Studies receive the President of Atomic Energy and the Director of Technical Cooperation at the International Atomic Energy Agency

Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, at the Center for Networks and Information Technology at the university, received Mr. "Neil Victor Jarvis", Coordinator of Technical Cooperation Programs in the Africa Sector, Department of Technical Cooperation at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, and Prof. Amr Al-Hajj, head of the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority, in the presence of Dr. Hidaya Ahmed Kamel, Vice President of the Commission for Training and International Cooperation Prof. Nabil Al-Farmawy, Head of the Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, Director of the Sustainability Center at Ain Shams University, and a group of faculty staff.

The meeting comes within the framework of the visit of the International Atomic Energy Agency to the Arab Republic of Egypt, which extends from 5-9 March.

         
   
         

In his speech, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University welcomed the President of the Atomic Energy Commission, Prof. Amr Al-Hajj, and Mr. "Neil Victor", responsible for managing technical cooperation programs at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Egypt, praising the introductory video presented by Mr. "Neil Victor" for what the international body is offering.

He stressed the importance of atomic and nuclear sciences in all fields and called on all parties to participate, cooperate and collaborate to implement the joint action plan between the three private parties in the fields of postgraduate programs for radiopharmaceuticals and nuclear medicine.

Also, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini invites Dr. "Neil Jervis" to participate in the annual scientific conference of Ain Shams University, which is scheduled to be held in May 2023, and will include a full session on nuclear science and the peaceful uses of atomic energy, and will be organized in cooperation with the Atomic Energy Authority.

         
   
         

Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of the University, explained the importance of authority and the university exchanging experiences in research fields of common interest to prepare scientific cadres qualified to work in the nuclear and radiological fields.

The vice president of the university indicated that the university and the authority are in the process of launching an accredited professional diploma within the framework of the protocol concluded between the two parties.

Mr. "Neil Victor" had presented a video about the authority and its various activities in the fields of peaceful applications of atomic energy and reviewed its areas of use such as food, agriculture, health, science, industry, water resources, environmental protection, and climate change.

He stressed the need to expand the scope of scientific and research cooperation between the Authority and the Egyptian University to include all scientific and research aspects.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, presented Dr. Neil Jervis with the shield of the university.

After the meeting, Mr. "Neil Victor Jarvis", Coordinator of Technical Cooperation Programs in the African Sector, went to the Technical Cooperation Department of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, at the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, where he was received by Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, and during the meeting, the Faculty's applications and uses of nuclear medicine were reviewed.
