The Middle East Research Center discusses diplomatic and consular relations in international law

In response to the request of representatives of Sudanese and South Sudanese students to hold a symposium on diplomatic and consular relations, and within the framework of the cultural season for the year 2022-2023 of the Center for Middle East Research and Future Studies, the center held a symposium entitled "Diplomatic and Consular Relations in International Law" in both Arabic and English languages, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in the presence of Dr. Hatem El-Abd, Director of the Center, and His Excellency Ambassador Youssef Zadeh, former Ambassador and Consul General of Egypt in New York.

The seminar was initiated by Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, welcoming the attendees, and the distinguished guest, His Excellency Ambassador Youssef Zadeh, as he indicated the importance of the symposium and that the Middle East Research Center is always keen to develop and deepen relations between Egypt and its African brothers, especially Sudan and South Sudan, and that it immediately responded to the request of the Sudanese and South Sudanese students.

         
   
         

After that, His Excellency Ambassador Youssef Zadeh , delivered speech where he shed light on the Geneva Convention on the Regulation of Diplomatic Relations, which was concluded in 1961, as well as on the Geneva Convention of 1963 on consular relations. His Excellency also stressed that Egypt is a pioneering country in terms of diplomatic representation, which began since In 1922, the Ambassador also clarified the difference between the diplomatic and consular missions and the most important roles and tasks undertaken by each of them. He also referred to the laws and agreements that govern and coordinate diplomatic work and provide protection for members of diplomatic missions in various countries, especially in periods of wars, conflicts and natural disasters.

After the end of his speech, His Excellency Ambassador Youssef Zadeh responded to all questions and inquiries of the attendees.

   
   

At the end of the lecture, Dr. Hatem Al-Abd presented a certificate of honor to His Excellency Ambassador Yousef Zadeh, in appreciation of his efforts and fruitful participation in the symposium, while the attending students from the brotherly state of Sudan and the brotherly state of South Sudan presented memorial shields to Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, and His Excellency Ambassador Yousef Zadeh, expressing their thanks and appreciation for this fruitful symposium.
