The Faculty of Law, at Ain Shams University, held an international symposium, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law, Jean Moulin Lyon III University, on partnerships between the public and private sectors, “Les Partenariats Public-Privé,” on Thursday, March 16, in the faculty's conference hall.
The symposium focused on standing up on the latest legal developments in Egypt and France regarding the conclusion and implementation of partnership contracts, which are the most important government contracting methods that countries seek to apply in order to advance infrastructure projects and support private sector participation in government projects.
The symposium was opened by Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdel-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Mohamed Safi, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University, and Prof. Caroline Chamar-Heim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Jean Moulin Lyon III, on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty and Prof. Stéphane Pied, French Coordinator of the Egyptian-French Department of the Faculty.
The symposium was attended by vice-presidents of the university, vice-presidents, faculty staff, public figures from governmental and judicial authorities, and a group of faculty students in undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
A number of experts in the field of partnerships between the public and private sectors gave a lecture at the symposium, including Dr. Ater Hannoura - Head of the Partnership Unit with the Private Sector at the Egyptian Ministry of Finance, Dr. Khaled Serry Siam - Former President of the Egyptian Stock Exchange and Former Legal Adviser to the Central Partnership Unit, and Dr. Marina Iskandar, Representative About the Authority for the Protection of Competition and Prevention of Monopolistic Practices.
The symposium was concluded by Prof. Muhammad Safi, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Caroline Shamar-Heim, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law at John Moulin Lyon 3 University. They expressed their happiness at the success of the symposium with the efforts of its participants, and stressed the importance of continuing the historical partnership that brings together the two ancient universities.
