The Students For Egypt Family at the Faculty of Medicine, in cooperation with the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty, organized a symposium on "How to Live Happy" with Dr. Mahmoud Al-Habibi, Professor of Psychiatry, at Ain Shams University, supervised by Prof. Hatem Rabie, pioneer of a family for the sake of Egypt for centralization and Prof. Hind El-Hilali is a pioneer of For Egypt Family at the Faculty of Medicine and director of the Women's Support and Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University.
Prof. Hala Sweid initiated the symposium and thanked Prof. Mahmoud Al-Habibi for the role he plays in supporting students psychologically.
She explained that this symposium comes within a series of health education symposiums that aim to educate all spectrums within the campus of the Faculty of Medicine, including faculty staff, students, and workers.
And today's seminar on mental health and its importance in educating students and conveying the message that every person is responsible for the decision to be happy or unhappy.
Her Excellency thanked For Egypt Family for the organization and their interest in educational seminars that weigh and aim to build character.
Then Prof. Hind Al-Hilali thanked Prof. Mahmoud Al-Habibi for the effort exerted in supporting students by holding seminars that aim to educate students and raise their awareness about promoting and caring for mental health so that the student can overcome the tension or pressures that he faces during the study period.
In his daily life, a person faces many challenges and difficulties that affect him with psychological pressure and make him lose a sense of happiness and security, and this matter may often lead to feelings of depression, frustration, inability to accomplish work, and weakness in building proper social relations with others.
In this context, Prof. Mahmoud Al-Habibi presented the World Health Organization’s definition of mental health. Mental wellness is an integral part of health, and is defined as “the state of wellness in which the individual achieves his own capabilities, is able to cope with the pressures of normal life, is able to work positively and fruitfully, and can contribute to his society.” It includes There are also several points, including interest in the capabilities that can be improved and successful production. It may be a certificate we obtain, a language we learn, the conclusion of the Qur’an, winning sports games, adapting to the usual daily pressures, directing a successful society (house - residential neighborhood - university), or community service such as protecting the world from global warming thermal.
In his speech, he also warned against frustration and negative energy, explaining how to bear stress and its impact on the environment and what surrounds us, such as feelings and actions, or confusing them, and involuntary reactions such as breathing, heartbeat, and positive and negative thoughts.
He referred to ways to withstand pressure, the most important of which is the organized physical and sports effort to raise the heartbeat, religious and spiritual activities, and the looseness of expressing what is inside us to someone close to the heart who is trusted and who only hears us without expressing an opinion or discussion, also trying everything that is new far away, avoiding everything that is prohibited, illegal, or prohibited, and avoiding everything that affects immediate pleasure, such as food, sleep, drugs, etc., and avoiding isolation and production for self-satisfaction.
He also touched on the types of happiness, including immediate pleasure, enthusiasm, absence of pain, companionship, contentment, and maintaining your hobbies, no matter how old you are.
The activities of the symposium included opening a dialogue with the students for questions, and coinciding with the symposium was a charity exhibition of charitable clothes presented by the Knights of Hadidi Foundation to all students and workers within the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University.
The seminar concluded with a workshop on emotional intelligence.
