Ceremony of the announcement of the prizes for the "Chinese Readings" competition at the Faculty of Al-Alsun

Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, opened the activities of the announcement and award ceremony of the “Chinese Readings” competition for translation, the first session 2023, which was organized by the “Chinese Readings” series and the Safsafa Publishing House in cooperation with the Chinese Language Department in the college, in the presence of Prof. Nasser Abdel-Aal, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, and Prof. Mervat Ali Mohamed, Head of the Chinese Language Department and Prof. Hassanein Fahmy Hussein, supervisor of the "Chinese Readings" series.

         
   
         

During her speech, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, the faculty administration was keen to thank the faculty staff of the Chinese language department for the great efforts made in all fields to support the students. She also congratulated the students who won the competition and praised this event, which aims to link students to the labor market through translation training. And the importance of students following all the activities and events organized by the faculty in its various sectors.

Also, Prof. Nasser Abdel-Aal, Vice Dean of the Faculty, spoke about the important role played by such events in the field of translation by testing students' capabilities in specialization and moving this event from training students in listening, speaking, and writing skills in Chinese to the skill of translation from Chinese into Arabic, and expressed his hope that the years will witness upcoming courses in the field of translation, interpreting consecutive and interpretation.

         
     
         

Prof. Mervat Ali Mohamed, confirmed in her speech on the various activities, carried out by the Chinese Language Department to develop the capabilities of the department’s students, including the semester program and the credit hour program in the field of translation between Chinese and Arabic, and encouraging students to participate in such events organized by the department in cooperation with specialized agencies in translation.

Prof. Hassanein Fahmy Hussein, the competition coordinator and supervisor of the "Chinese Readings" series, directed thanks to Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, the Faculty Administration, the Department of Chinese Language, Dar Safsafa Publishing House, and its Director, Professor Muhammad Al-Baali, for the great support of the competition since its announcement in January of this year until the announcement of the results of the competition.

         
     
         

He also pointed out the keenness of "Chinese Readings" that the first session of the translation competition is dedicated to students and graduates of the Department of Chinese Language in the faculty, in appreciation of the great role of the department in the field of translation and to encourage students to continue the pioneering march of the department in the field of translation in light of the department's renowned specialized professors. They have local and international translations between Chinese and Arabic.

The ceremony witnessed the honoring of the competition jury, which consisted of Prof. Magdy Mostafa and Prof. Magda Sophie, and Prof. Nahed Abdullah, Department of Chinese Language, for their distinguished efforts in arbitrating the participants in the competition and then honoring the “Chinese Readings” team of faculty members and graduates of the Chinese Language Department at the faculty for their work within the “Chinese Readings” publications, which contributes to the promotion of Arab-Chinese cultural communication. And handing out prizes to the winners of first place in the competition, and Ms. Nour Tariq, a graduate of the department in 2022, won first place, and second place went to the two students Hajar Salah Sharif and Mai Ramadan Abdel Tawab, and the third place went to the students Menna Allah Hussein and Jihad Ahmed, in addition to encouraging prizes for a number of the contestants are students and graduates of the department.
