In cooperation with the electronic portal, the University Awards Office organizes its 35th meeting with Prof. Huda Wasfi, a multi-award winner

Based on Ain Shams University's keenness to achieve excellence and competition, and as a continuation of Ain Shams University's leadership in the field of awards through its pioneering and distinguished scholars in various fields, and benefiting from the practical experience of recipients of prestigious awards, the University Awards Office continued its meetings and held, in cooperation with the electronic portal, its thirty-fifth meeting for recipients of prestigious local, regional and global awards, which was held at the University’s Networking and Information Technology Center on March 28, 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Islam Hegazy, Executive Director of the Center for Networking and Information Technology, Prof. Rasha Ismail, Director of the Electronic Portal, Prof. Alaa Abdel Halim Farag, General Supervisor of the Awards Office at the University.

   
   

The University Awards Office hosted Prof. Huda Wasfi, former Head of the French Language Department at the Faculty of Arts, and winner of the State Appreciation Award in Arts 2020. Dr. Hoda Wasfi is one of the most prominent Egyptian and Arab personalities in the fields of thought, fictional literature, comparative literature, and academic criticism. Her Excellency also assumed the position of the Egyptian and Arab member of UNESCO in 1992, in addition to chairing the Theater Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture. Wasfi held several administrative positions, including: Director of the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre, 1990. Director of the Hanager Art Center for twenty years, from 1992 to 2012. The center’s activity was included in 46 volumes, where it was characterized by wide activity. She also holds the position of a member of the Board of Trustees of the French University in Egypt, and director of the National Theater from 1995 to 2001.

Dr. Huda Wasfi referred to many achievements, as she managed many Egyptian theatres, most notably the Egyptian National Theater and the Hanager Art Center. She wrote more than 75 literary and philosophical books in Arabic and French and has many translations from French into Arabic as well as many books in the field of theater. She also received many awards from several Egyptian, Western and Arab quarters. Dr. Hoda Wasfi was honored in many countries, where she received the Flag Festival Medal in 1962, the Knight Medal in Arts and Letters from the French government 1993, the Officer Medal in Arts and Letters from the French government 2004, the Commander Medal in Arts and Letters from the Italian government 2007 and the Pioneers Award from Ain Shams University and the University of Illinois.

Her Excellency praised the university's efforts in supporting scientific research and researchers, as well as keenness on excellence and leadership in all fields.

She referred to her participation in translating the book “The Palace of Zafaran” into French. Her Excellency also extended her thanks and appreciation to the current university administration headed by Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, the President of the University and all the honorable vice presidents, for the efforts made in all aspects of the university sectors, and honoring the distinguished in international publishing and all forms of support from the university in this field.

Her Excellency sent a message to young researchers to work and invest in all available opportunities for excellence and leadership in order to achieve the university's mission, and in continuation of the path of giving and achievement of the ancient Ain Shams University.
