The Faculty of Education organizes an awareness seminar in cooperation with the University's Social Solidarity Unit on " Rumors and How to Address Them"

Within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed between Ain Shams University and the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the Faculty of Education, in cooperation with the University's Social Solidarity Unit, organized an awareness symposium entitled "Rumors and How to Address Them" under the auspices of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Salah Hashem, Advisor to the Minister of Social Solidarity, Prof. Safaa Shehata, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Alaa El Din Abdel Halim Farag, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and the supervision and presence of Prof. Gehan Ragab, Advisor to the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

         
   
         

Prof. Hassan Mohamed Salama, Professor of Political Science and Head of Public Opinion Research and Polls Department at the National Center for Social and Criminological Research, delivered a lecture at the seminar in the presence of a group of faculty staff and students from various departments of the faculty.

The seminar was presented by Prof. Amal Shams, a professor of sociology at the faculty, emphasized in her introduction the importance of raising awareness of the danger of rumors.

Prof. Safaa Shehata focused on the need to address rumors because of the severe damage that results from them.

Prof. Aladdin Abdel Halim Farag explained that the responsibility of future teachers is in the scientific awareness and the use of tools that protect against circulating rumors.

         
   
         

While Prof. Gehan Ragab emphasized in her speech that rumors affect national security and therefore young people must be warned against participating in these rumors or circulating false information due to its seriousness.

Prof. Hassan Muhammad Salama, explained the types of rumors and the degree of danger for each type of them, as he confirmed that rumors have existed since the existence of man on earth, but recently they have begun to accelerate at huge rates and social media has become a fertile environment for them.

His Excellency also dealt with the characteristics of rumors, and their impact on public opinion, as well as ways to address and reduce these rumors through science, knowledge, obtaining information from its official sources, not dealing with anonymous social media, and not giving in to rumors.

         
   
         

At the conclusion of his speech, Prof. Hassan Muhammad Salama, stated that the Egyptian laws are deterrent laws for the sources of rumors to limit them, directing a message to the college students and teachers of tomorrow that each of them be carriers of the message of science and knowledge and that they be a source of culture and awareness and distance from all the causes of emptiness that in turn lead to the spread of rumors and the need for solidarity from everyone in confronting rumors and standing next to official institutions to achieve a better future for our country and to strengthen the spirit of loyalty and belonging to the Egyptian identity, which is emphasized by Egypt's Vision 2030.

Ms. Reham Abdel Rahman, Coordinator of the Social Solidarity Unit at the University, addressed the role of the Solidarity Unit in this type of awareness seminar, explaining the various services provided by the unit to the university youth.

It is worth noting that these activities were attended by a team of student volunteers from the Solidarity Unit at the university, under the supervision of Mr. Salah Gamal Abdel Raouf, Activities Officer.
