The Vice President of Ain Shams University for Postgraduate Studies and the Belgian Ambassador inaugurate the first international conference of the Department of French Language Departments

Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, and the Belgian Ambassador to Cairo, Mr. Francois Cornet, inaugurated the first international conference of the Department of French Language at Ain Shams University entitled "Ethics, Poetry, and Aesthetics in French and Francophone Literature", in the presence of Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Hoda Abaza, Rapporteur of the Conference, and Prof. Georges Forestier of the Sorbonne University, and a group of faculty staff from the French language departments at the university.

         
   
         

In his speech, Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, welcomed the attendees, pointing out that the aim of launching the scientific departments at Ain Shams University is cooperating with similar scientific departments in the faculties and encourage them to communicate and integrate among them.

He added that there are strong joint cooperation relations between Ain Shams University and French culture in many areas of scientific research, education, cultural and academic exchange, and joint programs, including cooperation with the University of Lyon, the University of Poitiers, and the Francophone Agency for Universities, indicating that this cooperation aims to communicate with French scientific schools and involvement in French culture, looking forward to more cooperation in the future.

         
   
         

In his speech, the Belgian ambassador confirmed the depth of the strong relations between Egypt and the French-speaking countries, stressing the importance of the role that Egypt plays as a link between Arab culture and European culture.

She thanked all parties that combined their efforts to make the conference come out in this honorable way, led by the university administration and the leaders of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Arts. She especially thanked Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Prof. Sherine Mazloum, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts. She also praised the effort made by the organizing committee headed by Dr. Nadia Shama, the teacher in the French Department of the Faculty of Arts, in cooperation with a distinguished team, as well as the role of the Scientific Committee, which accomplished its mission in record time.

         
   
         

The conference, which takes place over the course of May 2 and 3, includes a number of sessions during which it discusses several axes: the creative process: poetics and the value system (conformity/conflict/transgression), the reception of the literary work, the scale of values, the exchange of values, the possible development of the value system, and the creative processes, aesthetic concepts.
