The Faculty of Education participates in the first international conference of the Department of French Language at Ain Shams University

Within the framework of Ain Shams University's interest in scientific cooperation between similar departments in the university's faculties to support the unification of ideas, efforts, communication and integration in all scientific activities, Ain Shams University organized the first international conference of the Department of French Language at Ain Shams University, entitled "Ethics, Poetry and Aesthetics in French and Francophone Literature" from May 2-3, 2023, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, and Prof. Mohamed Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, in the presence of the Belgian Ambassador to Cairo Mr. Francois Cornet and Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Hoda Abaza The conference rapporteur, Prof. Aladdin Abdel Halim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. George Forestier, Professor at the Sorbonne University, and a group of faculty staff from the French language departments at the university’s faculties.

         
     
         

Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, explained that strong joint cooperation relations combine Ain Shams University with French culture in many fields; It is represented in scientific research, education, cultural and academic exchange, and joint programs, including cooperation with the University of Lyon, the University of Poitiers, and the Francophonie Agency for Universities, indicating that this cooperation aims to communicate with French scientific schools and engage in French culture, looking forward to more cooperation in the future.

The Belgian ambassador also stressed the depth of the strong relations between Egypt and the French-speaking countries, stressing the importance of the role that Egypt plays as a link between Arab culture and European culture.

With support from Prof. Safaa Shehata, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education, stressed the need for communication between similar departments to achieve the common goals of learning languages and openness to various ideas that suit the spirit of the times and active participation in these pioneering events. Prof. Dr. The activities of the participants were fully organized by the faculty under the supervision of Prof. Maha Morcos, Head of the French Language Department, and in coordination, follow-up and review by Prof. Hani Daniel and Prof. Fathi Sayed, former heads of the French language departments at the Faculty of Education, are in harmony with the distinguished readiness of the advanced researchers from the faculty with the research presented and represented by the faculty in this field. Dina Ahmed Zaatar, assistant professor in the department, accepted the submitted papers in preparation for their submission for arbitration by the arbitration committee before the conference activities.

Dr. Marguerite Mimi Morris, Assistant Professor in the French Language Department at the Faculty, chaired the conference session related to the Faculty's participation on the second day of the conference on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Dina Mohamed Salah Shafei, a teacher at the French Language Department at the Faculty, and Dr. Manal Zahran Al-Bayoumi, an assistant professor at the department, prepared the report on the conference sessions as a documentation of the conference activities and presented it to the department and the Faculty.

It is worth noting that the professors of the French Language Department at the Faculty have participated in arbitration for many of the conference’s research, represented by Prof. Hani Daniel, Prof. Fathi Sayed, and Prof. Maha Morcos, Head of the French Language Department, due to their great experience in this field.

The importance of the conference is due to the fact that it is the first international conference of the department of French language departments in the university faculties, and it discusses many important axes, including the creative process: poetics and the value system (conformity / conflict / transgression), the reception of the literary work, the scale of values, the exchange of values, the possible development of the value system, creative processes, and other aesthetic concepts.

The administration of the Faculty of Education extends its thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the university administration and the organizing committee in organizing and preparing such important events, which contribute to more cooperation and concerted efforts in the scientific fields, especially in the field of languages, which was evident in this pioneering conference, in order to achieve the role of the university in opening up to the institutions of society in order to achieve for the aspired goals of raising the university and achieving a distinguished position in the hoped-for international classifications.
