Sponsored by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, held the 11th annual Ain Shams University International Conference "Knowledge Economy... For Better Life", which will be held on the 10th and 11th of May. The first day of the activities witnessed the organization of the Career center at the university, to a joint session with the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM), in the presence of Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Strategic Planning, Training and Qualification for the Labor Market, and Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Employment Center.
The workshop included a detailed presentation of the national strategic vision for higher education and scientific research 2030, and it included the employment axis, in addition to the employment center at Ain Shams University, headed by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz presented the strategic vision of the center and its role in supporting and qualifying the labor market.
Dr. Ayman Farid presented a detailed presentation showing the features of development in light of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, stressing the importance of achieving cooperation and integration between Egyptian universities and labor markets through innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as qualifying university students and graduates according to the requirements of the local, regional and global labor market, indicating that the vision of The national strategy for higher education and scientific research is based on the effective role of the ministry in supporting development in various economic, social, urban and environmental fields. This is in line with the realization of "Egypt's Vision 2030".
Dr. Ayman Farid added that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is in the process of establishing a fund to support the vocational path and rehabilitation for the labor market. With the aim of providing support and care for the Career Support Centers that have been established in Egyptian universities, stressing the importance of developing the necessary infrastructure to operate these centers, on top of which is the Career Services Management (CSM) platform, noting that the first phase includes the establishment of interactive platforms in 7 public universities covering 7 Egyptian governorates, which are managed by a central platform in the ministry to manage the professional services system in those centers.
During the session, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz talked about the Career centers and fourth-generation universities.
Giuseppe Provenzano, director of projects of the "Union for the Mediterranean", stressed the role of the university as a tool in promoting employment in the green economy, during the session moderated by Prof. Noha Gamal El-Din, Deputy Director of the Center for Learning Through Experience.
This was followed by a discussion session entitled "Emerging and Disappearing Jobs - How the Future of Work Will Affect Jobs and Skills". Modern technology and emerging markets generate new and productive jobs, and how modern trends such as automation and globalization affect future jobs. The attendees also talked about the types of skills required by young people to survive and grow in the ever-changing work environments.
Everyone agreed on the importance of developing skills related to creativity, social intelligence, decision making and technical skills such as coding because it is the language of the future.
