Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, met His Excellency the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cairo, Ambassador Liao Liqiang, the meeting was held at the headquarters of the Zaffran Palace, during the visit of the delegation of Jiangsu University Hospital from the People's Republic of China, headed by Dr. Liu Yun, director of Jiangsu Hospital.
Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, and Prof. Tariq Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Prof. Muhammad Bahaa, Professor of Surgery and Liver Transplantation, Prof. Mohamed Fathi Abdel Ghaffar, professor of liver surgery and transplantation, and a Professor. Aya Yassa, professor of radiology, Prof. Nasser Abdel-Aal, Director of the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University, Prof. Sherawat Al-Ahmadi, Director of International Students and Mobility Office at Ain Shams University, and Prof. Tamer Emara, Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Sherine Fawaz, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Faculty of Medicine, and Dr. Mohamed El-Mohamady, a teacher of gastroenterology endoscopy and a former intern at Jiangsu Chinese Hospital, attended the meeting from the Egyptian side.
The Chinese delegation included Dr. Pan Yinping, Deputy Director of Medical Affairs, at Jiangsu Hospital, Dr. Wang Xiuqin, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Dr. Xu Zakuan, Director and Chief Physician of the Department of General Surgery, and Dr. Li Xiangchun, Deputy Director of the Liver Center and Dr. Liu Lee, director of the Department of Endoscopy and Gastroenterology.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the cooperation that took place based on the memorandum of understanding concluded between the two sides earlier.
The two sides also debated ways to support the expected cooperation in a number of fields, including digital transformation in university hospitals, laparoscopic surgery, tropical medicine, and chest diseases.
The two sides discussed ways to activate joint short-term training programs ranging from 3-6 months. The meeting touched on continuing medical education programs in the African continent, as well as the possibility of cooperation in the field of liver transplantation, gastrointestinal surgery, geriatrics, geriatrics, and rehabilitation medicine.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of fruitful cooperation between the Egyptian side and the Chinese side, whether at the international or popular level, especially during the past years since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini pointed out the cooperation between Ain Shams University and many Chinese agencies and bodies, which resulted in a number of achievements, including the establishment of the Silk Road Center and the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University and other points of cooperation and convergence that began years ago.
The meeting was followed by an exchange of shields and souvenirs. Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini gifted copies of the book “Qasr Al-Saffron”, to members of the delegation, then the delegation took an inspection tour inside the Museum of “Zaffran Palace”.
It is noteworthy that the visit of the delegation of Jiangsu University Hospital in the People's Republic of China made several visits to Ain Shams University Hospitals, an Egyptian Center for Research and Treatment of Oncology, and the Faculty of Medicine.
