Central Infection Control Celebration of Global Hand Washing and Hygiene Day

In conjunction with the Global Hand Washing Day, awareness campaigns for hand hygiene were concluded, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Samia Abdo, Director of Central Infection Control and Deputy Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals.

This came in the presence of Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Samia Abdo, Director of Central Infection Control and Deputy Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Eman Omar, Head of the Clinical Pathology Department, and Prof. Zakaria Abdel-Hamid, Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant, World Health Organization in Egypt, Ms. Nagwa Metwally (Patient Safety Advocate at the World Health Organization) and Prof. Yasmine Gamal, Director General of the Children's Hospital, and Prof. Dr.. Rehab Abdel Rahman, General Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, and Prof. Yousra Jadallah, Deputy Director of Al Batinah Hospital, as well as doctors and teams of the Central Infection Control Unit and medical staff of doctors and nurses of Ain Shams University Hospitals.

         
   
         

The activities opened by Prof. Samia Abdo, by welcoming the attendees and introducing the activities of the day that will take place on the sidelines of the celebration of the International Hand Washing Day, including recreational and scientific activities, and honoring the doctors and infection control teams at the Martyr Ahmed Shawky Hospital for Geriatrics, which obtained total accreditation for the standards of the internationally recognized General Authority for Accreditation and Health Control, to be the first hospital A university in Egypt obtains accreditation from the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Control, which is the first university hospital to obtain it in Egypt.

Distinguished nurses from each hospital were honored, and the infection control teams, medical staff and nursing staff were honored for each hospital, for Ain Shams University hospitals to obtain the first place among university hospitals in the application of infection control standards among Egyptian universities, and the activity of medical questions in which nursing staff participated in all hospitals, and a competition The committee and the public voted for the creation of the best awareness advertisement about germ control, infection and disease prevention, in which all university hospitals participated, and a presentation was presented to the audience about the analytical medical indicators for central infection control applied to hospitals.

On the sidelines of the celebration of the Global Hand Washing Day, Prof. Zakaria Abdel Hamid, Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant from the World Health Organization in Egypt, during his speech that the World Health Organization in Egypt is in the process of declaring Egypt free of virus (C) in the near future.

         
   
         

He praised the role of the central unit for infection control in university hospitals in limiting the spread of infectious diseases, and also praised the role of medical teams in adhering to the standards of the World Health Organization for the prevention of infectious diseases.

Ms. Nagwa Metwally (an advocate for patient safety at the World Health Organization) continued on the need for medical awareness about infection control within the corridors of hospitals, as well as directing patients and educating them to practice all health prevention methods at all times, and that hand washing has increased during the past Corona pandemic and gave everyone the signal. On the paramount importance of preventing diseases by washing hands and constantly disinfecting them from germs to combat infectious diseases.

Prof. Eman Omar, Head of the Clinical Pathology Department, continued that awareness should begin with young people and help them by providing scientific content that suits their age and cartoon films urging attention to personal hygiene and continuous hand washing so that future generations become aware of this important issue.

She also praised the efforts of Prof. Samia Abdo for her active role in managing the central unit for infection control and effective contributions in reducing the spread of diseases in university hospitals and their centers.

Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, delivered his speech welcoming and thanking the gentlemen and ladies present and those present from the infection control teams, medical staff and nursing staff from the hospitals. The attendees continued the celebration of the International Day of Handwashing by practicing activities and holding competitions in which all nursing teams and infection control teams participate in each hospital. Certificates of thanks and appreciation were honored and distributed to the infection control team at Martyr Ahmed Shawky Hospital for Elderly Medicine on the occasion of the hospital obtaining total accreditation according to the standards of the General Authority for Accreditation and Control. internationally recognized health system, to be the first university hospital in Egypt to obtain accreditation from the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Control, and then to honor distinguished nurses from each hospital, infection control teams, medical staff and nursing staff for each hospital, for Ain Shams University hospitals to obtain the first place among university hospitals in the application Infection control standards among Egyptian universities, as well as honoring all infection control teams for all hospitals and taking memorial photos.
