The International Conference on Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery recommends the use of a surgical robot and a surgical navigator in brain, neurosurgery, and spine surgery

The International Conference on Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery for the year 2023, which was organized by the Department of Neurosurgery at the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, with the participation of the Egyptian Society of Neurosurgeons, during the period from May 24-26, recommended the necessity of continuing to keep pace with the great boom in the world in functional neurosurgery, Especially surgeries for movement disorders and epilepsy, with the importance of choosing the appropriate patient for these delicate surgeries and enhancing the role of technology and the use of modern devices such as surgical robots and surgical navigators in brain, nerve and spine surgeries.

         
   
         

The conference also recommended the importance of highlighting the developments of minimally invasive surgical interventions in spine surgery and encouraging young neurosurgeons to pay attention to scientific research and publication in international scientific journals and to consider this as a major part of their training in addition to acquiring various surgical skills and interest in providing workshops on a regular basis in all subspecialties of neurosurgery for its important role in raising the level of young surgeons.

The conference also stressed the need to give full opportunity to young female doctors to join the specialty of neurosurgery and to provide them with support and good training in order to expand the circle of practice in this specialty among females, based on those successful and honorable models that already exist within the field.

Emphasis on the important role of nursing staff in the neurosurgery system, working to provide them with basic knowledge and skills, and providing them with training courses and workshops for further development.

It is noteworthy that the conference was held under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, headed by Prof. Ashraf Al-Abyadh, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery, Chairman of the Conference, and Secretary-General of the Conference, Prof. Walid Abdel-Ghany, Professor of Neurology, at Ain Shams University.

The conference witnessed the presence of the largest international gathering of neurosurgeons from all over the world, as it included more than thirty foreign lecturers from the largest international universities, in addition to the active participation of professors of neurosurgery from various Egyptian universities, in addition to all faculty staff in the Department of Brain Surgery and Nerves in the Faculty of Medicine.
