Under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini held a scientific session within the activities of the second African medical conference and exhibition, “Africa Health ExCON”, under the slogan “Your Gateway to Innovation and Trade”, which was held at the Al-Manara Center for International Conferences from the 5th to the 7th of June.

During his participation, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, reviewed the experience of Ain Shams University over two decades in liver transplantation in Egypt, and its leadership in introducing this precise type of surgery in light of what thousands of Egyptians were suffering from liver diseases, and Ain Shams University succeeded through the pioneering liver transplantation team in restoring hope for Egyptians, 1,500 successful liver transplants were performed.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini stated that the first liver transplant operation in Egypt was performed by a 100% Egyptian team, and that was in 2004.

He expressed his pride in the succession of generations in the field of organ transplantation in Egypt in general and liver transplantation in particular, stressing that everyone who contributed in this field endured great challenges, and stressed that any hospital in which organ transplantation operations are performed is equipped at the highest level, indicating that the existence of such This type of delicate surgery improves the health work system within any hospital, pointing out that the Organ Transplant Center at Ain Shams Specialist Hospital provides liver, kidney and lung transplants at the highest levels of quality and with accurate international scientific standards.

He stressed that the success of liver transplantation in Egypt is an addition to the Egyptian national economy because it gives a new opportunity for people to participate in life and production again. This type of surgery is a great wealth and success that deserves investment and represents one of the best aspects of investment in people.
