The President of the Arab Council of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists announced the opening of applying for the Council’s awards for the year 2023, believing in the value of distinguished giving and pioneering works in the field of antiquities, civilization, excavations, museums, and restoration.
The awards are divided into three sections: the council’s in-kind awards, the council’s research awards with a material return, and the council’s awards for heritage service.
And the in-kind awards include five awards:
The Council’s Prize for Young Archaeologists has a financial return provided by the Center for the Revival of Heritage and Islamic Architecture to Dr. Saleh Lamei, amounting to 3000 pounds, provided that the age of the applicant does not exceed 40 years.
The Council Award for Academic Excellence is granted to everyone who has contributed a great deal in the field of scientific publishing at the international level and has distinguished scientific production in the field of antiquities, heritage, restoration, and museums, or who has contributed to excavations and archaeological discoveries, or who has had significant contributions in the field of restoration sciences and whose research has had a prominent role in Upgrading archaeological and museum studies and restoration sciences.
The Council Award for Scientific Merit is granted to prominent scientific personalities in the field of archeology, architecture, heritage, restoration, museums, manuscripts, handicrafts, traditional industries, and excavations, who contributed with their studies, research, and scientific school to raising awareness of the value of antiquities, architecture and national heritage in their countries.
The Council’s Appreciation Award is granted to bodies and institutions working in the field of antiquities, cultural and media heritage, research centers, scientific societies, bodies concerned with antiquities and cultural heritage, as well as personalities who perform a great and distinguished work in the service of human heritage and contribute to raising awareness of the value and protection of antiquities and heritage.
Shield of the Arab Council of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists, granted by the Board of Directors of the Council, who must consider the personality nominated by the Council’s management or from outside in terms of its scientific stature and its active role in consolidating the concept of archaeological and cultural heritage, and those whose scientific giving is not less than 30 years and have a distinguished school in their field of specialization.
His Excellency announced that the pioneers and distinguished archaeologists who contributed their donations and devoted their lives to serving archaeological work in all its fields will be honored at the opening session of the 26th International Conference of the Arab Council of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists, under the auspices of the Association of Arab Universities, from 11-12 November 2023.
