Job and employment opportunities forum for newly graduated doctors at the Faculty of Medicine

The Department of the Ain Shams University Alumni Association and the Faculty of Medicine, in cooperation with the ASU Career Center at the university, organized a job and employment opportunities forum for newly graduated doctors, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Hala Sweed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and the Graduates Office of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and under the supervision of Prof. Reem Al-Kabariti, Director of the University's Alumni Association, and Prof. Asst. Dr. Dina Ibrahim Salam, in cooperation with the ASU Career Center, led by Prof. Ahmed Abdelaziz, in Al-Banhawi Amphitheater, Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University.

Representatives of many hospitals and different medical sectors participated in the forum, to present the job opportunities available to them and how to apply for them, along with Dr. Ola Khairallah, Head of the Training and Research Sector at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Abdel Salam Shalabi, Assistant Secretary of the Egyptian Fellowship for Technical Affairs, Major General Doctor Adel Tammam from the Medical Services Department of the Armed Forces, Major General Doctor Nabil Fekry, Director of the Police Medical Services Department, Dr. Ahmed Hussein, Medical Director of Cleopatra Hospitals Group, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Najjar, Head of Learning and Development at AstraZeneca.

         
   
         

In her speech, Prof. Hala Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, praised the level of the college's graduates, pointing out that the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University offers distinguished educational programs for its students to graduate a doctor at the highest level of competence.

She added that the forum aims to link the graduates with the labor market and provide unique opportunities for the students of the faculty.

In her speech, Prof. Reem Al-Kabariti, Director of the Alumni Association Department, explained that this forum is the fourth to introduce young doctors to available job opportunities and open various fields for them in different work agencies, such as the Ministry of Health, the Egyptian Fellowship, police and army hospitals, the private sector and pharmaceutical companies.

She also touched on the roles of the Alumni Association and the various services it provides to its members, noting that the Association qualifies graduates for the labor market by holding a series of various workshops to develop their skills. The Association also holds forums for graduates and issues membership cards for its members and provides them with services in various fields. It also invited graduates to join the Association to benefit from the package of services that are provided.

         
   
         

Dr. Ahmed Abdulaziz, Director of the ASU Career Center, touched on the center and its objectives, pointing out that through the departments of occupational education and learning through experience, the center aims to create cadres of university students capable of competing in the labor market through programs, training workshops, vocational guidance programs, and organizing various events with the private sector such as exercises, simulations, field visits, and other activities.

Dr. Ahmed Abdulaziz, Director of the ASU Career Center, indicated that the Center organizes two recruitment events annually: the annual employment forum in March and the employment week in October. The ASU Career Center also has an electronic platform that allows companies to display employment and training opportunities through it and allows students to apply for these opportunities.

It is noteworthy that during the activities of the day, the ASU Career Center presented a workshop entitled "LinkedIn" - the aim of which was to introduce the attendees to the LinkedIn website, its importance, and how to use it optimally. The LinkedIn workshop is one of the functional learning workshops aimed at refining the job skills of university students and graduates.
