The Minister of Higher Education honors Dr. Hesham Omran for winning the UNESCO Al-Fouzan International Competition Award

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, honored Dr. Hesham Abdel-Salam Omran, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, for winning the UNESCO "Al-Fouzan International" competition, in the presence of Dr. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, in the Special Education Building in the Fifth Settlement.

The Minister expressed his happiness with what Dr. Hesham Omran has achieved and that he deserved success and honor at the international level. He affirmed the Ministry's support and encouragement for this distinguished model of young researchers by providing all the required scientific capabilities.

The minister pointed to the discovery and support of young innovators from Egyptian universities, to implement new and advanced projects that will have an impact on the local and international market, referring to the Innovators and Talents Fund, which offers many initiatives and projects; To help innovators and creators find the most powerful ideas that can be adopted and turned into startup companies; With the aim of graduating entrepreneurs and innovators to contribute to building the national economy and developing the local and international market.

For his part, Dr. Hesham Omran expressed his appreciation and thanks to the Minister, stressing that he will continue to conduct his scientific and technological research. To transfer his expertise to Egyptian universities.

Dr. Hesham Omran indicated that the international arbitration committee included many prominent scientists, including one of the scientists who won the Nobel Prize, pointing out that his candidacy file for the award includes two axes, the first in the field of design automation, which is that integrated electronic circuits (silicon chips) are designed in an automatic way. Through innovative software in less time and with a higher quality than designing in traditional ways, adding that the second axis includes developing multiple courses in the field of electronics, using social media and distance education to disseminate them in Egypt and the Arab world, as well as designing specialized training programs to bridge the gap between academic study and industry. It qualifies young people for the job market in the field of integrated circuit design.

It is worth noting that Dr. Hesham Omran is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering. He obtained a bachelor's and master's degree from Ain Shams University, and a Ph.D. from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Engineering in 2020, Ain Shams University Encouragement Award in Technology in 2022, as well as the Design Automation Conference Award for Innovators in 2022 in California, which is the largest international conference in the field of electronic design automation.

It should be noted that the UNESCO "Al Fozan International Award" is a unique award that is held for the first time to honor and encourage young scientists in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Five winners were chosen worldwide from the five UNESCO regions (Africa, Arab countries, Europe and North America), South America, Asia), and the winners were honored at an international ceremony at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
