The National Network for Bioinformatics BioNetMasr was officially launched from Ain Shams University, in the presence of Prof. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Samar Kamal, Head of the National Bioinformatics Network, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Collaboration Sector, Prof. Amani Osama, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Khaled Abu Shanab, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Hala Sweed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, and a group of Egyptian university professors.
Prof. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research, confirmed that Ain Shams University is a very strong partner in most of the academy's projects, including the National Bioinformatics Network BioNetMasr, indicating that there are 5 informational networks, including 2 at Ain Shams University, explaining that the purpose of the National Bioinformatics Network, is to gather all scientists from different universities in one network, to provide technical and material support at the national level, to provide all capabilities for researchers and scientists, and to form distinguished medical teams of scientists.
He referred to the Egyptian Genome Project, which achieved its goals in very large proportions, and Egypt now has a specialized center in genome sciences, as well as expertise and specialized cadres in this field, explaining that the information issued by the Genome Project will lead to knowledge of many facts, early diagnosis of diseases and treatment in the fastest time.
He added that the academy is working to provide financial and technical support at the national level for research agencies, pointing out that the network will work as a bloc that brings together all scientists specialized in bioinformatics technology and genetic sciences, and that a network has been established in nuclear sciences, explaining that it is the result of coordination and teamwork through these different information network contributed to the advancement of the ranking in international publishing and the ranking of Egyptian universities.
During an online intervention by Sir Magdi Yacoub, he talked about the importance of bioinformatics contributions to the chronology of clinical care and how science can help in the applications of bioinformatics and the establishment of national centers linked to clinical service, explaining the contributions of bioinformatics to clinical care and how science can help in that, citing the words " Peter Medawar: It is the great glory as well as the great threat, and that we can reach everything we hope for with science if the intention is sincere.
During his speech, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini expressed his pride in launching the Egyptian National Network for Bioinformatics - BioNetMasr in the arms of the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University, that pioneering medical institution that has always been at the forefront of adopting and developing new scientific models, we are proud to be the site from which BioNetMasr is launched with cooperation and funding from the Academy of Scientific Research, which embodies our commitment to staying at the forefront of technological developments in the medical and biological sciences.
BioNetMasr is more than just a network; It is a platform that symbolizes our collective aspiration to advance Egypt's scientific capabilities and enhance cooperation, not only within Egypt but with international scientific communities in this delicate field. We all look forward to BioNetMasr contributing to the development of scientific and research capabilities for the next generation of researchers and scientists who are adept at benefiting from the potential of the field of bioinformatics to address the health challenges we face today.
We look forward together and hope that BioNetMasr will greatly accelerate genomic research, proteomics, drug discovery, and many areas important to the health and well-being of our citizens, the most important of which is the field of personalized medicine, which will raise the level of health care, reduce its expenses and improve its outcomes.
In conclusion, His Excellency expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the launch of this network and explained that it is not only a milestone for Ain Shams University or even the Egyptian scientific community, but it is a starting point towards a future in which our ability to understand and process biological data can lead to pioneering developments in healthcare. and medicine.
During his speech, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar confirmed that it is no secret to us in our time that the field of bioinformatics has proven to be one of the most important fields of science where technological development is accelerating at a great pace.
In a world where technology takes off into unprecedented spaces that we witness day after day, bioinformatics, which represents the meeting point of biological sciences and information technology, has become an indispensable tool in our understanding of complex biological systems, providing us with innovative ways to analyze and interpret biological data and apply them, in favor of raising the level of health care for our citizens because it plays a pivotal role in analyzing the huge amounts of biological data that are now available, decoding the genetic codes, understanding the complex mechanisms of vital processes, and through this bioinformatics, we can unlock new insights to prevent diseases, and develop methods of medicine in many areas, driving innovation in the field of healthcare in our dear homeland.
At the conclusion of his speech, Prof. Ali El-Anwar announced the launching of the Egyptian National Network for Bioinformatics - BioNetMasr at Ain Shams University.
Prof. Samar Kamal, Head of the BioNetMasr Bioinformatics Network, referred to the concerted efforts of the state to collect the largest amount of vital information in order to serve specialized and accurate national scientific projects, as well as support from the Academy of Scientific Research and Ain Shams University in order to provide bioinformatics technology, especially in genome sciences, and coordinate efforts to access genomics data sets, locally, regionally, and internationally, as well as strengthening ties between scientists both in academic and industrial circles in Egypt.
And she praised the concerted efforts of the state to collect the largest amount of vital information with the aim of serving specialized and accurate scientific national projects and expressed her hope that Egypt will be among the top 20 countries around the world in the field of information availability as soon as possible.
