Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, and Ambassador Nabila Makram Abdel Shahid Wasef, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fahem Foundation for Psychological Support, signed a joint cooperation protocol between the two sides, at the Saffron Palace, in the presence of Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Hala Sweed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Director of International Students and Mobility Office.
The protocol aims to provide psychological support services and exchange experiences and studies in the field of psychological support and mental health, by holding workshops and training courses in the field of mental health, exchanging research papers and scientific theses related to mental health, as well as providing psychological support services to university students, through Providing qualified specialists and psychiatrists who are trained to identify mental illnesses and educate young people and families about mental illness, its dangers and methods of treatment, in a safe environment that preserves their dignity and the necessary confidentiality.
The protocol also includes cooperation and exchange of practical experiences with the university in the field of support and awareness of mental health, as well as cooperation in developing the psychological support unit at the university and developing its work mechanisms to provide psychological support and guidance, providing the necessary awareness for young people regarding mental illness and how to deal with the mental patient, his needs, his rights, various methods of treatment, and participation in any awareness campaigns - related to mental illness - organized by the university to provide educational content.
In addition to participating in research papers, scientific theses, and studies related to mental health, presenting cadres of faculty staff and teaching assistants, to cooperate with the Foundation in its various activities such as raising awareness and spreading the culture of mental health, cooperation with Ain Shams University hospitals, especially the Ahmed Okasha Center for Psychiatry, and the Psychiatry Center at Al-Demerdash Hospital, to refer a number of cases requesting treatment for mental illness.
