Ain Shams University, representative of Egypt, won the Grand Prize for the best theatrical performance in the 19th session of the International University Theater Festival in the sisterly state of Tunisia

Under the auspices of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, under the supervision of Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and for the first time at the level of Egyptian universities, the theatrical acting team won the Grand Prize at the level of Arab and international universities within the activities of the Monastir International Festival for University Theater in its 19th session, by participating in the theatrical show “Miserables” which is a theatrical performance based on Miserables novel by Victor Hugo and directed by Mahmoud Hassan Hajjaj (Grazie)

This show has won the following awards

1_ Best Scenography Award for Abu Bakr Al Sharif

2_ Best Direction Award for director Mahmoud Hassan Hajjaj

3_ Award for the best actor in a second role for student Mohamed Abdel Jalil

4_ Encouragement Award in acting for student Ramonda Zakhary

5_ The Grand Prize for the best theatrical performance, and this award is the first of its kind that the university receives in international competitions and festivals

         
   
         

The participating delegation consisted of Prof. Hatem Rabih, the leader of the Students for Egypt family at Ain Shams University, and the delegation’s supervisor, Mr. Tariq Ahmed, Acting Director of the General Administration of Youth Welfare, and Mr. Mustafa Issa, Director of the Artistic Activity Department, Mr. Abdel-Fadil Kamal, student supervisor.

The selection committee of the festival had chosen the show of Ain Shams University to participate in the festival as a representative of Egypt, as this participation is the fourth participation of Ain Shams University, Where the University participated for the first time in 1997, and participated for the second time in 2003 with the theatrical show (The Game) based on the play "Freedom of the City" by Bren Frieland directed by Mohsen Rizk, one of Egypt's greatest directors. The show won the Best Direction Award.

         
   
         

In 2009, the university participated in the theatrical show "King Lear" by William Shakespeare and directed by the great director Tamer Karam. The comedian star Mustafa Khater participated in the King Lear show so the show won the best directing award for Tamer Karam and the award for best actor in a second role.

Today, for the first time in the history of Ain Shams University, it won the Grand Prize in the 19th session, which is the best theatrical performance, and four other awards between acting, directing, and scenography.

The festival administration honored Prof. Hatem Rabie, head of the delegation of Ain Shams University, representative of Egypt, who presented the highest verses of thanks to Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs and sponsor of student activities, for the great support of the mission and for the support received by the students of theatrical activity in order to reach this artistic position that would raise the name of Ain Shams University high among the ranks of Egyptian and Arab universities, indicating that the university won the award It is not only a tribute to Ain Shams University, but also a tribute to the name of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
