Sponsored by Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ain Shams University Hospitals, the English medical delegation from the Royal Brompton Hospital in England concluded its fifth visit to the Cardiovascular Diseases and Surgery Hospital at Ain Shams University Hospitals.
A final meeting was held with the English medical staff, led by Dr. Ulrich Rosendahl, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and Clinical Head of the Aortic Unit at Royal Brompton Hospital, in the presence of Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Muhammad Al-Ghannam, General Director of the Hospital, Prof. Sameh Samir, Professor of Cardiology and Deputy Director of the Hospital, and Prof. Ashraf Al-Sebaei, Head of the Cardiac Surgery Department, Prof. Mohamed Nabil, Professor of Cardiac Surgery, and Prof. Mustafa Gamal, Deputy Director of the Hospital for Medical Affairs, Dr. Fadel Al-Qadi, Director of Operations and Director of the Cardiac Perfusion Unit at the hospital, Prof. Ahmed Al-Kardani, Professor of Cardiac Surgery, and Prof. Ihab Abdel Razek, Professor of Cardiac Surgery, and a group of faculty staff and nursing staff participated in the operations that were performed, in order to discuss the positives and negatives of the visit and discuss the future of cooperation between the two parties.
The visit included interventions to treat aortic patients, including two open-heart surgeries to treat aortic aneurysm and aortic valve regurgitation. A scientific day was also held on the sidelines of the visit to exchange experiences and discussions between the two parties in the field of aortic surgery. The visiting delegation expressed its happiness with the medical level of the Ain Shams University team, operating room equipment, and catheterization, the incoming team expressed its willingness to complete mutual visits within the cooperation protocol between the two parties, which will continue for 5 years.
On the sidelines of the visit, Prof. Muhammad Al-Ghanem stated that the Egyptian medical staff, which is the aortic surgery team, benefited the English medical staff scientifically and practically in all mutual visits with that cooperation, which reflects the interest of Ain Shams University in improving the medical services provided within its hospitals to serve patients and train medical staff in complex types of surgeries and medical services.
