Students of the Water Engineering and Hydraulic Structures Program at the Faculty of Engineering, at Ain Shams University won first place in the Best Graduation Project Competition, which was held on the sidelines of the sixth Cairo Water Week conference, which was held from October 29 to November 2, 2023, under the patronage of Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty, where the team won first place equally with the Cairo University engineering team, the team competed with 23 teams from 9 universities with innovative graduation projects in all water engineering specializations.
The winning project was called “Sustainable Development of the Safaga Region within the National Project for the Development of the Golden Triangle,” where the students prepared integrated studies and designs for water sources in the Safaga region, integrated water facility networks, and flood protection works in the region, in addition to the design of the new Safaga Port.
The students were honored by His Excellency Prof. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and also by the head of the European Union delegation to Egypt, which participated in organizing the conference this year.
It is worth noting that this is the sixth year in a row that the project students have achieved one of the top three places in the competition since the beginning of Cairo Water Week.
