The President of Ain Shams University receives a delegation from the University of Texas to discuss ways of cooperation

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, on Wednesday, December 20, received a high-level delegation from the University of Texas, in the presence of Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, to discuss ways of cooperation between the two sides, especially in the medical field.

         
   
         

During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Diaa spoke about Ain Shams University and its various faculties, the number of students and faculty staff, the university’s centers of excellence, the university’s position in international classifications, the faculties that have been accredited by the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority inside Egypt, as well as the faculties that have had some of their programs accredited internationally, such as the Faculty of Dentistry, which was able to obtain international accreditation for its undergraduate programs (Clinical Dentistry Program - Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery Program) from the German “AQAS” organization to ensure quality by accrediting study programs, to be the first dental faculty in Egypt and the Middle East to obtain international accreditation for bachelor’s programs.

He also talked about the Medical City of Ain Shams University, through which the university seeks to provide medical services to patients visiting hospitals with high quality, a distinguished and contemporary medical level, and health care in line with quality and infection control guidelines. As well as providing it with the latest medical equipment and carrying out the necessary maintenance for it, with constant attention to raising the human competencies of doctors and nurses, stressing the great role played by the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University and the University hospitals in the field of health care in Egypt.

The meeting also touched on the Egyptian Genome Project, which His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi gave the start signal for in March 2021, and several universities participated in it, including Ain Shams University, in addition to several research centers.

         
   
         

For their part, the members of the delegation expressed their happiness to be at an Egyptian government university, which has a long history like Ain Shams University and a distinguished academic reputation, stressing their keenness to extend the bonds of cooperation between the two sides and to conduct further communications to reach an effective formula for cooperation that serves the interests of both parties.

Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Faculty of Medicine, where they were received by Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Hala Sweid, the Faculty’s deputy for community service and environmental development, took them on an inspection tour of the faculty that included the simulation center, the computer lab, and the Mahalawi and Banhawi runways.

The delegation also visited the Ain Shams Medical Research Center, the Geriatric Hospital, and the Digital Hospital, in the presence of Prof. Tamer Emara, Dr. Sherine Fawaz, and a group of faculty staff at the Faculty of Medicine.
