Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced that Egypt is reaping the benefits of supporting its scientists, and starting the steps to produce two new Egyptian medicines, stressing the importance of employing the outputs of scientific research to support the national economy under the slogan “Made in Egypt.”
Dr. Ayman Ashour stressed the importance of the vital role of scientists and researchers in achieving the goals of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, by benefiting from scientific research and transforming it into products and innovations to support efforts to improve local industry and support the national economy, pointing to the importance of doing joint research with researchers at foreign universities, And distinguished researchers at the global level, within the framework of interdisciplinary disciplines, which contributes to achieving sustainable development goals, meeting the needs of the labor market and developing plans to disseminate their scientific production to increase scientific citations.
In implementation of achieving the objectives of this strategy, and in follow-up to the results of the meeting of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with Dr. Mina Kelleni, one of the scientists included in the famous American Stanford list of the top 2% of the world’s most influential scientists for two consecutive years 2022 and 2023, which was held last December, to explain His scientific research, which he published in a major international medical journal, explained the ability of a natural drug to resist respiratory viruses, in addition to the possibility of partnership in manufacturing and distributing a natural extract, and converting it into a gel under the name (plasmid gel), for which he obtained a license from the World Intellectual Property Organization. It is useful in some male diseases and has also received approval from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority for safe topical use for circulation within Egypt, in addition to examining the possibility of exporting it to various countries of the world. In the context of following up on the steps to start Egypt’s production of two new medicines, a meeting was held between Dr. Medhat Al-Ghobashi, Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University and advisor to the former Chairman of the Medicines Authority, Dr. Mina Thabet Kelleni, a member of the faculty at the Faculty of Medicine, Minya University, and Dr. Abdel Nasser Singab, Professor of Pharmacology and Dean. Faculty of Pharmacy and former Vice President of Ain Shams University, at the headquarters of the Arab Company for Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Supplies (ACADEMA) in Obour City.
The meeting dealt with setting a road map to begin work on the Arab Republic of Egypt’s production of two drug products, one of which holds an international German patent to treat male diseases, and the other to raise immunity and treat respiratory viruses, which received international praise, due to its connection to the sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
