The Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University received a high-level delegation from the Korean Cooperation Agency (KOLCA), accompanied by a delegation from the United Nations and the National Council for Women of Ain Shams University, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and in coordination with Prof. Hind Al-Hilali, Executive Director of the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University, in the presence of Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, and the delegation was accompanied by a representative from the United Nations Population Agency, Mrs. Germain Haddad, Acting Director of the United Nations Population Office in Egypt, Mrs. Sally Zehli, Director of Programs at the United Nations Population Agency, Dr. Amal Philip, Project Manager of the Safe Women Unit at University Hospitals in Egypt and a member of the National Council for Women, and a group of the unit’s work team of specialists and volunteer students at the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University.
Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, praised the university’s effective role in supporting the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit within the university and supporting students in building their skills in confronting crises and violence and developing their social, health and economic knowledge to achieve their full empowerment within their families, communities, and countries.
Prof. Hind Al-Hilali, Executive Director of the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit, at Ain Shams University, explained the role of the unit in supporting male and female students to create a safe educational environment on campus and learning about the training courses and workshops offered by the unit to develop the psychological and physical capabilities of female students, and to overcome crises and negative feelings resulting from their exposure to violence and bullying by providing means of protection for male and female students, whether inside or outside the university campus, in addition to conducting convoys and health awareness campaigns for students to learn about common diseases, how to detect the disease, and ways of protection through specialists and consultants.
On the sidelines of the events, the Unit’s students briefly presented the services provided by the Unit to spread awareness and introduce the Unit’s role, in addition to introducing the students to their volunteer role in the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit in seminars, health initiatives, and various medical convoys inside and outside Ain Shams University.
This was followed by a field visit to the university campus, beginning with a visit to the headquarters of the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University under the leadership of Prof. Hind Al-Hilali, Executive Director of the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit.
The delegation praised the university’s support for providing a suitable place for the unit to receive student services on campus, in addition to the unit’s effective, distinctive, influential, and clear role among the students through the training courses provided to them through the Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University.
The delegation also visited the Zaffran Museum, as part of the field visit to the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at Ain Shams University. The delegation was received by Dr. Walaa Al-Din Badawi - Director of the Museum, and Mr. Hossam Mohamed, Curator of the Museum, who accompanied the visit, and the delegation listened to a detailed explanation of the history of the Zaffran Palace and the collection of archaeological collectibles inside the museum halls.
The delegation praised the museum’s collections and thanked all those in charge of the museum who were keen to take souvenir photos that documented the visit.
In conclusion, the delegation made a field visit to the Safe Women’s Unit at Ain Shams University Hospitals. The delegation was received by Prof. Rehab Abdel Rahman, Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Prof. Muhammad Reda, Prof. Amr Taher is part of the unit’s work team who accompanied the delegation and was shown how to receive cases and provide them with the necessary health care when they are exposed to harm, whether through health support through gynecologists, precious doctors, and forensic medicine and writing the necessary treatment for the case.
The delegation praised the clear and supportive efforts made by the staff of doctors, nurses, and workers at the university hospitals for patients and those exposed to violence.
