Within the framework of developing the skills of employees at the Faculty of Arts, at Ain Shams University, the Faculty’s Graduate Studies and Research Sector organized a series of training courses for the sector’s employees to enhance their professional level, improve communication skills, stimulate positive thought, increase the acquisition of information, and develop experiences and skills, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, under the supervision of Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
The series of courses began with the “Communication Skills in English” course, which was presented by Prof. Nadia Hashish, Assistant Professor in the English Department.
The session was opened by Prof. Hanan Kamel, who stressed the importance of holding these courses to develop employees’ capabilities, and that these courses were determined through a questionnaire conducted by the Quality Unit among the various faculty departments through the Training Committee.
Her Excellency warned that experience alone is not enough, but rather it always needs improvement and development through such courses. She also thanked Prof. Hatem Rabie and Prof. Howaida Abdel Hamid, Director of the Quality Unit, and Prof. Bahaa Abdel Hafez, Chairman of the Committee, for their efforts in preparing and directing these courses.
For his part, Prof. Hatem Rabie explained that these courses were based on the needs of each department in the sector, stressing the importance of commitment to attendance to achieve the maximum benefit, pointing out that certificates of benefit will be issued to those who enrolled in these courses.
Dr. Nadia Hashish presented how to write correspondence in English and write emails. In the second part of the course, she also discussed the principles of the English language and some common and used expressions and terminology. In the end, she thanked the faculty administration and the attendees' sector employees.
Another course was also held, “On the Use of Electronic Correspondence,” coordinated by Dr. Howaida Abdel Hamid, Director of the Quality Unit, Dr. Bahaa Abdel Hafez, Assistant Professor, at the Department of Libraries and Information, and Dr. Diaa El-Din Abdel Wahed, Assistant Professor in the Department of Libraries and Information, explained during which how to create e-mail and create an account, the method of drafting electronic correspondence, and the various instructions for writing correspondence. In the second session of the course, he trained the employees practically on writing electronic correspondence and on creating (e-mail).
The attendees the employees of the graduate studies and research sector, expressed how much they benefited from this course, and they also thanked the faculty administration for holding these courses.
