Borders, their intellectual framework, and their representation in relevant literature and translation...a conference at the Faculty of Arts

On Monday, February 19, the activities of the International Conference “Borders, their intellectual framework and their representation in relevant literature and translation” were launched at the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain Al-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr.. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research.

The conference continued over the course of two days, February 19 and 20, and in her speech during the opening, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed Prof. Dominique Viard, Professor at the University of Paris, and distinguished attendees, expressed their thanks to the Department of French Language and Literature for holding this international conference in partnership with the French Cultural Center and the national research networks of French language departments in Egyptian universities.

         
   
         

The Dean of the Faculty stressed that these partnerships enhance the value of scientific research, develop areas of local and international cooperation, and stimulate the international publishing process, especially since all departments of the faculty include an elite group of faculty staff with the highest level of competence, experience, and scientific value, which would represent The Faculty excelled in all international forums.

At the end of her speech, she thanked Prof. Maha Aliwa, President of the Conference, and Prof. Hoda Abaza.

In his speech, Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Postgraduate Studies and Research, expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Department of French Language and Literature for organizing this international ceremony. He also expressed his happiness at holding this important scientific forum within the Faculty of Arts, which emphasizes the importance of cooperation between different scientific institutions, and the importance of exchange. Scientific, cultural and exchange of experiences, stressing his complete confidence in the conference achieving its goals of promoting knowledge and culture.

         
   
         

For her part, Prof. Maha Aliwa, President of the Conference and Head of the French Language Department, said that the conference will be a fertile ground for exchanging fruitful opinions and that it will help in understanding the issues related to borders and their impact on societies and the future of humanity.

Also Prof. Hoda Abaza thanked Prof. Hanan Kamel for her support and making every effort to hold the conference.

The conference came out with a set of recommendations, including the necessity of developing a unified definition of borders, whether on the linguistic or literary level, as well as developing several studies on the psychological impact of borders. It also stressed the importance of translation and its role as a cross-distance and border-crosser and emphasized the necessity of holding such conferences as a periodical to exchange opinions and experiences and learn about different schools of thought.
