The Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, represented by the Graduate Studies and Research Sector, organized a symposium entitled Digital Identity for Researchers on Scientific Communication Sites, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain Al-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, under the supervision of Prof. Hatem Rabie Hassan, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research, coordinating both Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim, Head of the Training Committee, Performance Evaluation and Quality Assurance Unit, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sadawi, Director of the Researcher Services Unit, and presenter at the symposium: Prof. Amani Al-Sayed, Professor of Libraries and Information, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Community Service and Environmental Development, Helwan University.
Prof. Amani Al-Sayed discussed the digital identity of researchers on social networking sites, which included scientific communication, the digital identity of the researcher, the open identity for researchers and participants, the arbitrators’ platform, Google Scholar, and challenges.
Her Excellency referred to the most important social media platforms used by online searchers, and if someone searches for you on Google, what will they find?
It also discussed the methods that researchers use to communicate, discuss, and participate with other researchers in the specialty or other specializations, and how the researcher shares his scientific production with researchers. It also explained if the researcher has a question, what are the methods by which other researchers search for an answer.
She pointed out that the concept of a researcher’s digital identity is an identity that identifies the researcher in the web environment, which includes everything related to the researcher, including scientific research, reference citations, and other scientific activities, which distinguishes the researcher from other researchers, even if the names are similar.
At the end of the symposium, Prof. Amani Al-Sayed highlighted the importance of digital identity at the level of the researcher, at the level of the research institution, as well as at the level of the scientific research community in the country.
The symposium received a large turnout from students, employees, and faculty staff.
