The activities of the Ain Shams University Comprehensive Development Convoy, organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector, were launched in cooperation with the Red Sea Governorate and the Southern Military Region for the people of Shalatin, Halayeb, and Abu Ramad in the period from 25 to 29 of this February, under the auspices of Major General Staff Officer. Dr. Amr Mohamed Hanafi, Governor of the Red Sea, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, under the supervision of Prof. Hala Samir Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community and Environmental Affairs, under the administrative supervision of Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for Community and Environmental Affairs.
The Convoy clinics received more than a thousand beneficiaries on its first day in the specialties of: ear, nose and throat clinics, orthopedics, dermatology, internal medicine, heart, urinary tract, ophthalmia, children, chest, teeth, psychiatric and neurological diseases, and radiology, in addition to the Convoy Pharmacy, which provided its pharmaceutical services free of charge to more than a thousand beneficiaries. 34 cases were transferred to complete treatment at Ain Shams University Hospitals.
The activities of the first day also included distributing a number of food items to the people of Shalatin and holding a number of awareness seminars that included the art of dealing with patients for students of the Nursing Institute in Shalatin, healthy habits to prevent diseases at General Hassan Kamel School in Shalatin, and personal hygiene and protection from diseases at Sadat Primary School in Shalatin.
