The Crisis and Disaster Unit at the Faculty of Specific Education, Ain Shams University, held an awareness symposium on the culture of security and safety for the individual, under the auspices of Prof. Al-Sayed Mostafa, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Farag, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Ayat Anwar, Director of the department of the Crisis and Disaster Unit at the Faculty, in cooperation with the Training and Skills Development Unit, Dr. Abdul Rahman Shawqi, where Dr. Mona Muhammad Al-Zanati, teacher of home and family institutions management in the Department of Home Economics, gave a lecture.
The symposium aimed to spread awareness of the importance of following safety procedures to prevent accidents and risks, enhancing skills for dealing with emergency situations, principles of occupational safety and health, sources of risks likely to occur within the Faculty, and how to deal with them.
The symposium also included a practical application that included identifying the types of fires expected to occur, the use of different fire extinguishers, and how to deal with fires of various types, in addition to a practical application for rescuing a person suffering from electric shock.
Finally, the youth were educated about the Faculty’s security and safety means, their importance, and how to use them, such as sand buckets, fire extinguishers, first aid boxes, and a water extinguishing point.
