The Minister of Higher Education receives a delegation from the World Design Studio team in the presence of the President of Ain Shams University

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO received a delegation from the World Design Studio team, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister for Strategic Planning, Training and Qualification for the Labor Market, and Dr. Omar. Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Dr. Akram Farouk, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, and several representatives of the Chinese Huazhong Agricultural University, and students of the two universities.

Dr. Ayman Ashour stressed the importance of the projects implemented by the World Design Studio, reviewing the most prominent partnerships currently being implemented between Egyptian universities and their prestigious international counterparts, for the benefit of the educational and research system in Egypt.

   
   

The Minister pointed out that the current workshop is an opportunity to exchange different experiences, skills, cultures, and visions among students, hoping that all students participating in the training program will benefit and achieve the maximum benefit possible for the benefit of themselves and society.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Diaa, President of Ain Shams University, emphasized the importance of the development projects that the World Design Studio (WDS) at the Ain Shams Faculty of Engineering worked on, noting that the studio brings together various architectural specializations with the participation of 3 universities, namely (Ain Shams University, Clemson University in the United States, and Huagong University in China). Pointing out that the project began in 2017, and students from the architecture and urbanism programs at the three universities participate in the studio annually, to work on developing visions and solutions to various urban problems within their countries if they are national projects.

For his part, Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education for Strategic Planning, Training and Qualification for the Labor Market and General Supervisor of the International Design Studio, said that the studio includes several specializations, including: (architectural, urban, and environmental design, urban planning, and site coordination), noting that the studio is considered the first of its kind in the field of engineering study. The interface that brings together the specialization of architecture and urban planning, and links it to many other engineering specializations, pointing out that the study this year is being conducted on several sites in the city of Aswan, as it is the capital of African youth, economics, and culture, as well as being Egypt’s economic gateway from the south, explaining that according to the agreement between the universities The three partners in this project will choose a city every year to conduct studies, visions, and development projects on it.

The Chinese delegation expressed its happiness that the Arab Republic of Egypt hosted the third workshop, which was held in the city of Aswan, noting that the workshop contributes to exchanging experiences and cultures, and increasing cooperation in areas of common interest between the two sides.

The Minister exchanged conversations with the representative of the Egyptian team and the representative of the Chinese team, and the students reviewed the most prominent activities they carried out in the workshops. Dr. Ayman Ashour urged the students to participate actively and continue to acquire the necessary experiences, knowledge, and skills to qualify them for the local, regional, and international labor market.

It is worth noting that the international design team had participated in the workshop organized by the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the Egyptian Initiative for Scholarships and Educational Tourism “Study in Egypt” and in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Supreme Council of Antiquities, in partnership. With the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Huazhong Agricultural University in China, and Clemson University in the United States of America, with the participation of 30 male and female students from the WDS program at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, and Huazhong Agricultural University in China; To study some of the areas targeted for development (Gharb Suhail Village, Plant Island, Azab Karur, Aswan International Park, Nubian Village).
