On Monday, March 18, on the campus of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Mohamed Dia Zein El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received a delegation from Nanjing Chinese Medical University, headed by Mr. Lan Qing, President of the University, in the presence of Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, within the framework of expanding cooperation agreements between Nanjing University and Ain Shams University in the field of scientific research, academic work, and medical education.
In his speech, Prof. Mohamed Dia expressed his happiness in cooperating with Nanjing Medical University, looking forward to permanent cooperation with Nanjing University Hospitals, as hospitals play a pivotal role in the medical care system, stressing his welcome to open horizons of cooperation with the Chinese University in various fields, including university hospitals and other fields.
The delegation of Nanjing University presented a proposal that cooperation include the exchange of students and professors between the two universities.
Prof. Ali Al-Anwar proposed the exchange of professors between Ain Shams University and Nanjing University, stressing that strengthening institutional cooperation between the two universities would contribute to opening areas of cooperation between different specializations.
The activities of the visit included the delegation’s attendance at a presentation of the Integrated University Medicine Program (5+2) in Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini hall at the Faculty of Medicine, where an overview of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, its establishment, and its affiliated centers, including an Egyptian center, was presented, in addition to presenting the faculty’s vision, the stages of development of Ain Shams Medical City, and an overview of Ain Shams Virtual Hospital.
As presented by Prof. Tarek Youssef presented a detailed presentation of Ain Shams University Hospitals and their affiliated centers, in addition to the human power, the number of visitors to the hospitals, the infrastructure, and the future for its development.
The Chinese side reviewed the development of Nanjing Medical University, which was established 90 years ago, and its vision, its affiliated hospitals, their capabilities, and the number of surgical operations it performs per year were presented, as well as free treatment as a participation of civil society in Chinese hospitals. The university also seeks to support the field of scientific research from specialists who provide support for the development of government institutions.
The visit also included a tour of the faculty, a visit to the computer lab, the simulation lab, the Mahalawy auditorium, and a tour of the Egyptian Center for Medical Research and the Internal Medicine, Surgery and Elderly Hospital.
