On Monday morning, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development, held a celebration entitled “We Can Do It for Our Children of Determination,” which was held by the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Childhood, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain Al-Abedeen, President of the University, and the celebration activities were organized by Prof. Howaida Al-Gebali, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ahmed Al-Kahki, Director of the Special Needs Care Center, in the presence of Prof. Hayam Nazif, former dean of the faculty, Prof. Saadia Bahadur, former dean, and the distinguished heads of departments at the faculty and a group of faculty staff.
The celebration was hosted by Prof. Manal Hanafi, Head of the Central Administration at the Ministry of Solidarity, on behalf of the Minister of Social Solidarity, Prof. Hind Alyan, Director General of the General Administration of Rehabilitation Services.
During her speech, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University, expressed her happiness at belonging to the university, which provides its distinguished services to children with disabilities, thanking all parties responsible for providing diverse and distinguished therapeutic services to these children, which enable them to communicate and interact with their communities and participate effectively.
Prof. Howaida El-Gebali, Dean of the Faculty, expressed her deep thanks to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his support for people with special needs, in addition to the awareness campaigns that contributed to educating the families of these children and Egyptians in general about the necessity of giving them full care, and she appreciated the permanent and continuous support for the Faculty and the center and by the university administration represented by: Prof. Mohamed Dia, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.

Greetings from Prof. Neven Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, stressed that Ain Shams University is a great institution that provides the community with continuous and supportive services for people of determination in Egyptian society.
During the events, Dr. Reham Sabry, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty, and Dr. Hasna Othman, Assistant Professor in the Faculty’s Medical Department, presented glimpses of the cases of children with autism who attend the center. Dr. Sarah Ali, Assistant Lecturer in the Medical Department at the Faculty, gave an overview of the most important units of the Faculty’s Special Needs Service Center and the services provided by each unit. Prof. Asmaa Al-Sirsi, Professor of Psychology, Department of Child Psychological Studies, reviewed reports of the average cases of children received by the center, their diagnoses, and rates of improvement.
Prof. Ass. Lamis Makkawi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, conducted a study on the impact of the Corona pandemic on children’s learning problems and difficulties.
Dr. Hanan Abu Al-Nasr, lecturer in the Department of Pediatrics, addressed the problems faced by the group of children with Asperger Syndrome (High-Functioning Autisin, in April, which is Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness Month.
At the conclusion of the activities, memorial shields were awarded to Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University, Prof. Manal Hanafi, Head of the Central Administration at the Ministry of Solidarity, Prof. Asmaa Al-Sirsi, Professor of Psychology, Department of Child Psychological Studies, Prof. Hind Alyan, Director General of Rehabilitation Services, in appreciation of their distinguished efforts.
It is noteworthy that prior to the celebration, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, inspected an exhibition that included handmade products for children at the faculty’s Center for People with Needs, accompanied by Prof. Howaida Al-Jabali, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Hayam Nazif, former dean of the faculty, Prof. Ahmed Al-Kahki, Director of the Center for People with Special Needs.
