The President of Ain Shams University receives the British Ambassador in Cairo to discuss enhancing joint cooperation

Today, Sunday, May 12, 2024, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received His Excellency Ambassador Gareth Bailey, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, as part of efforts to enhance cultural and academic cooperation between Egypt and the United Kingdom.

         
   
         

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mark Howard, Director of the British Council in Egypt, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Director of International Students and Mobility, and Mrs. Mona Badawi, Education Officer at the Embassy, Mrs. Shaima Al-Banna, Education Officer at the British Council.

At the beginning of the meeting, the University President expressed his welcome to His Excellency the Ambassador, stressing the depth of relations between Egypt and Britain, especially in the field of higher education and scientific research, pointing to the existing cooperation agreements between Ain Shams University and a number of British universities, stressing that there are always more open horizons, to enhance this cooperation.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen pointed to Ain Shams University’s keenness to enhance international cooperation and build strategic partnerships in the field of higher education and scientific research with prestigious international bodies and universities.

The University President also spoke about the innovation and training sector at the university, which includes three centers (training and development – entrepreneurship and innovation – ASU Career), and the sector works to align and integrate these three centers directly with the vision of Ain Shams University to become a global leader in education, research and innovation and ensure smooth transition into the professional world.

For his part, His Excellency the Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the university in raising the level of education and scientific research, stressing the readiness to enhance cooperation in multiple fields.

The meeting discussed many topics of common interest, including existing and future areas of cooperation between Ain Shams University and universities in the United Kingdom, especially in the areas of student exchange and joint programs.
