Coinciding with the celebration of World No-Tobacco Day, the Ministry of Health and Population organized a celebration under the patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, in cooperation with the World Health Organization and the Egypt Foundation for Civil Society Service, in the Sports City in the New Administrative Capital.
A delegation from Ain Shams University, sponsored by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, participated in the activities of the celebration, which included many activities.
In this context, Prof. Ghada Farouk stressed the importance of raising health awareness about the dangers of smoking and calling on young people to pay attention to the dangers of tobacco and protect future generations from diseases associated with the consumption of different types of tobacco.
She pointed out that the university administration is keen to provide seminars on an ongoing basis to raise students’ health awareness of the dangers of smoking and the benefits of quitting smoking, in addition to holding many sports activities and events that instill in students the culture of regularity in practicing sports activities and maintaining public health, because Egypt’s youth are its wealth to build. the future.
The celebration activities included a bicycle marathon in the Sports City in the New Administrative Capital, and various awareness-raising about the dangers of smoking and the importance of abstaining from it.
It is worth noting that the World Health Organization celebrates World No-Tobacco Day on May 31 every year with the aim of drawing global attention to the negative and harmful effects of tobacco and smoking and its bad effects on public health and reminding people of the dangers that smoking causes, whether on the lives of individuals or on the economic aspects of families and societies. together.
