The Awards Office at Ain Shams University announced that three distinguished scientific theses in the field of historical studies won three prestigious awards for the best master’s and doctoral theses, presented by the Society for the Egyptian Society for Historical Studies for the year 2022.
University researchers have excelled in the fields of Byzantine history, contemporary Arab history, and economic history, achieving this well-deserved honor, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
The researcher, Israa Qassem Muhammad Al-Tayeb Youssef from the Faculty of Arts, at Ain Shams University, won the Prof. Raafat Abdel Hamid Award for the best master’s thesis in Byzantine history with a thesis entitled (The Byzantine court in the ninth and tenth centuries AD, a cultural study), which was awarded in 2022 with grade of Excellent with a recommendation for exchange between universities.
Dr. Shaima Hamza Mahmoud Khattab from the Faculty of Girls, at Ain Shams University was also honored by receiving the Prof. Adel Ghoneim Award for the best doctoral thesis in contemporary Arab history, entitled “Soviet-Israeli relations and their repercussions on the Palestinian issue 1947-1991.”
The thesis dealt with the role of the Soviet Union in the Palestinian issue, and an analysis of Arab-Soviet relations, in addition to Soviet-Israeli relations, and the impact of this on the Palestinian issue.
Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud Ali Gomaa also received the Prof. Ali Abdul Aziz Suleiman Award for the best doctoral thesis in economic history. This honor highlights his valuable contributions to understanding economic history and providing a new and comprehensive vision for the field.
Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud Ali Gomaa received the Prof. Ali Abdel Aziz Suleiman Award for the best doctoral thesis in economic history with a thesis entitled “Endowments and Egyptian Society in the Second Half of the Nineteenth Century.”
Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud Ali Gomaa also previously received the Prof. Raouf Abbas Award for the best master’s thesis in economic and social history from the Egyptian Society for Historical Studies, which highlights his academic and research excellence in his field.
