The Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO, in cooperation with the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, announced the opening of applying for the “L’Oréal-UNESCO” Program for Women in Science for the year 2024, with the aim of enhancing the participation of young Egyptian women in the field of science, in addition to rewarding talented young female scientists in the fields of life sciences, physical sciences, as well as engineering sciences, mathematics, engineering sciences, information sciences, and earth and cosmic sciences.
The program includes honoring three talented young Egyptian researchers for the quality of their research work and encouraging them to pursue a wonderful career in the field of science, as well as providing two scholarships each worth 10,000 euros or the equivalent in local currency to two Egyptian researchers working on post-doctoral studies in a research laboratory, institute or university in Egypt. The program also provides one scholarship worth 6,000 euros or its equivalent in local currency to an Egyptian researcher pursuing her studies to obtain a doctorate degree in a research laboratory, institute or university in Egypt.
The organization announced the conditions for applying for this program, which include: The candidate must have a doctorate degree in one of the fields: (life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, mathematics, engineering sciences, information sciences, earth and universe sciences), and for those holding a doctorate degree during the period from 2019-2023, the program requires that she be of Egyptian nationality. They must also work in a research laboratory, institute, or university in Egypt, and the age of candidates must not exceed 45 years by the end of the application period.
For doctoral students:
Applicants must meet the following criteria: The candidate must have a bachelor’s and master’s degree or their equivalent in one of the fields: (life sciences or physical sciences, engineering, mathematics, engineering sciences, information sciences, earth and universe sciences), the candidate must also be registered in the second year of the doctoral program, or one year before defending the thesis, and must be of Egyptian nationality, in addition to the condition of working in a research laboratory, institute or university in Egypt, and the age of the candidates must not exceed 35 years by the end of the application period.
