Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, opened the activities of the annual scientific conference organized by the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, under the title “Science Day”, in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein Al-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister for Strategic Planning, Training and Qualification for the Labor Market, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, Advisor to the Minister for Technological and Technical Education, and a number of faculty leaders and faculty staff.
At the beginning of the events, the Minister expressed his happiness to participate in this event, pointing to the prominent role that the Faculty of Engineering provides within the educational system in providing distinguished graduates who are qualified with the highest qualifications in this vital field, pointing to the excellence of many graduates of this ancient faculty in the fields of work throughout the course of the year. Dr. Ayman Ashour noted the contributions of the Faculty of Engineering in serving national projects throughout its history, pointing out his pride in the faculty’s ideal model among higher education institutions based on a professional system in its management, stressing that his period as dean of the faculty was a continuation of this system based on creative thinking and developing a specific vision, dealing with changes and developments, developing them, and solving problems.
The Minister thanked those in charge of organizing the conference and the distinguished professors attending, and his happiness in participating in honoring the pioneer professors of the classes (1965-1968), praising their contributions to the service of engineering education and serving this field through their long journey of work, expressing his hope that the conference sessions would produce fruitful results that would contribute to the development and progress of engineering sciences.
Dr. Ayman Ashour gave a lecture on the higher education strategy and Egypt’s Vision 2030, explaining the efforts that were made in developing it from a careful study of the needs of the academic and research community to develop education, then forming a committee of wise men from all the different higher education institutions and representatives of the community and relevant ministries, and holding many workshops, In order to reach a strategic plan capable of meeting the ambitions to advance the educational process and the level of educational and research institutions and link them to society, and to the vision of sustainable development for the country as a whole, noting the “Alliance and Development” initiative to link universities with industrial and community institutions to serve development goals in each region.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Diaa, President of the University, praised the university’s pride in the Faculty of Engineering, which along with the medical faculties formed a locomotive for the university among the rest of the ancient faculties in which Ain Shams University was founded, praising the faculty’s contributions in serving the comprehensive renaissance process that Egypt is witnessing, and achieving an industrial and developmental boom in various fields related to engineering work. , expressing his happiness to participate in the touch of loyalty that the conference offers today to a number of distinguished professors at the faculty.
Dr. reviewed. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty, in his speech, the achievements achieved by the Faculty during the year 2023-2024, in many fields, including the preparation of new teaching regulations that keep pace with the latest requirements of the quality of education and the labor market, whether at the bachelor’s or postgraduate levels, in addition to local accreditation for all faculty programs and international accreditation for a number of 6 programs, and organized the first international conference for Ain Shams Engineering under the title “Smart Cities - A Future Vision,” adding that the faculty won second place as the best faculty during its first participation in the Government Excellence Competition, in addition to signing and implementing many protocols with American, European, and Chinese universities to support Scientific and student exchange, and the implementation of many national projects within the framework of the faculty’s role in community service and environmental development, and the comprehensive development of the faculty’s buildings and infrastructure.
On the sidelines of the events, a symposium was held on energy systems and smart and sustainable solutions, and at the conclusion of the conference, the winners of the Best Scientific Thesis “Master’s - Doctorate” competition were honored.
