"Choose your health: say no to tobacco," a symposium at the Faculty of Medicine

To celebrate World No Tobacco Day, the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the Department of Community Medicine, Environment and Industries, organized a symposium entitled "Choose your Health: Say No to Tobacco", under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ali Al -Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Hala Suwaid, Vice -Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Iman Bakr, Head of the Community Medicine Department, and Coordination Prof. Khaled Abdulaziz, Professor of Public Health.

   
   

The symposium dealt with awareness of the negative damage to smoking short and long -term, smoking in the work environment, electronic cigarette and its danger, the effect of smoking on the nutritional state, on the health of the mouth and teeth, as well as how to quit smoking.

The activities of the symposium were insulted by referring to the dates of the smoking clinic in Ain Shams University Hospitals, and the symposium also discussed the initiative of the Faculty of Medicine without smoking, which was started since 2015, in cooperation with the various faculty departments such as the Department of Psychological and Neurological Diseases and the Scientific Council for Clinical Nutrition.

   
   

On the sidelines of the symposium, a number of activities and activities were held by the Public Health Department, such as body mass measurement, blood pressure measuring, random blood sugar level, awareness of the dangers of smoking, as well as measuring carbon monoxide gas for smokers through the "Life without Smoking", and awareness of the various activities of the association and the services that Its progress is presented.

It is worth noting the first time, the Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University, represented in the Department of Public Oral and Dental Health in educating the attendees from faculty employees and students.
