Ain Shams University shines in the 2024 State Awards by winning six awards of Appreciation, Excellence and Incentive from the Supreme Council of Culture

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and the University Awards Office, extend their sincere congratulations to the university’s winners of the State Appreciation, Incentive and Excellence Awards from the Supreme Council for Culture 2024, They are as follows:

Prof. Mamdouh Mohamed Gad El-Damaty, full-time professor of antiquities and ancient Egyptian civilization at the University’s Faculty of Archeology, for receiving the State Appreciation Award in the field of social sciences for this year 2024. His Excellency served as Minister of Antiquities (2014-2016) and was the founding dean of the Faculty of Archeology (2020-2022). He has more than 15 books and 30 scientific papers, he won many awards, including the Knight Medal from Italy, the State Award for Excellence in Social Sciences (2010), the Gold Medal from Charles University (2015), and the Appreciation Ain Shams University Award (2017).

Prof. Samia Qadri Wanis, Professor of Sociology at the University’s Faculty of Girls, received the State Award for Excellence in the Field of Social Sciences for this year 2024. She played an effective and pioneering role in women’s studies and civil society development, and she is a member of many scientific committees and societies, including the arbitration committees for professor promotions, the Arab Society for Sociology, and the Higher Specializations Committee for the Arts, Antiquities, and Social Service Sector of the Supreme Council of Culture. She has prominent books such as “Sociology of Place” and “Egyptian Women’s Issues,” and translation experience with works such as “Introduction to Cultural Sociology.”

Prof. Ahmed Sayed Mahmoud, Professor of Proceedings Law at the Faculty of Law, for receiving the State Incentive Award in the field of legal and economic sciences in the section on successful justice and its impact on the family and society this year for the book “Private Bonds with Executive Power (Basic - Effectiveness).”

Dr. Noura Issa Zakaria Abdel Salam, Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Law at the Faculty of Law, for receiving the State Incentive Award in the field of legal and economic sciences - the branch of ensuring the cultural rights of Egyptian women and their impact on social security this year for a research entitled: “Constitutional Protection for Women with Special Needs Against Multifaceted Discrimination - a comparative analytical study under the 2014 Constitution,” and her Excellency is a member of the Human Rights Committee to enhance cooperation between Ain Shams University and the National Council for Human Rights and a member of the Technical Secretariat of the Permanent Supreme Committee for Human Rights.

Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Abdel Salam, teacher of archeology and museum sciences at the Faculty of Archaeology, for receiving the State Incentive Award from the Supreme Council of Antiquities for this year in the field of social sciences, branch of books, publishing, libraries and museums, for the book “Museum Display”. He is a member of the General Secretariat of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). He has authored many specialized scientific researches and has 12 scientific books in the field of museum studies and sciences, antiquities and Islamic civilization. He has received many awards, including the ISESCO Award for the Alliance of Civilizations and the Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamad Award. For creativity - historical and cultural research category.

Researcher Nouran Mahdi Abdel Aziz Aziz, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Drama and Theatrical Criticism at the University’s Faculty of Arts, for receiving the State Incentive Award in the Field of Arts in the Theatrical Research Branch this year for a research entitled: “The body between the real and the digital in dance theatrical performances (Pixel Show by Murad Marzouki as an example).” She is also a doctoral researcher and holds a master’s degree with excellent grades. She has research participations in international conferences and festivals, and has published a book entitled “The Discourse of Cultural Bodies in Contemporary Performing Arts.”

The university administration wishes all the award winners further distinction and brilliance, in appreciation of their distinguished scientific efforts and outstanding contributions in their various fields, and expresses its pride in the scientific and academic achievements they have achieved that have raised the university’s standing and contributed to strengthening its position as a pioneering institution in scientific research and higher education, and encourages them to continue giving and innovating to achieve more success and excellence in the future.
