The activities of the scientific forum of the Egyptian-American Joint Council for Science and Technology were held at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (ASU-iHub) at Ain Shams University, which was held in cooperation between the Science and Technology Development Fund and the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in the United States of America, in the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs, and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Walaa Mohamed Sheta, CEO of the Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF), Dr. Yasser Refaat, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for University Affairs, Dr. Sarah Staton - Deputy Director of the Office of Science and Technology at the US Department of State, Prof. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education for Strategic Affairs and Preparation for the Labor Market, Prof. Hoda Abu Shadi - Member of the President’s Advisory Board for Education and Scientific Research and Professor of Physics Expertise in the Department of Physics, at the Faculty of Science, Dr. Weam Mahmoud, Executive Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (ASU-iHub) at Ain Shams University.

In her speech, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, expressed her happiness with the cooperation with the Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF) and its support for many research initiatives. It plays a pivotal role in promoting scientific progress, encouraging innovation, and enhancing cooperation between academia, industry, and government agencies. Adding that the support provided by STDF has allowed our researchers and scientists to explore pioneering ideas, develop knowledge, and make influential contributions in various fields. Through financial assistance, capacity building programs, and cooperation opportunities, the Science and Technology Development Fund has succeeded in creating an environment of scientific excellence and dissemination of knowledge.

Her Excellency affirmed that Ain Shams University believes in the power of cooperation and the importance of exchanging knowledge for the public good, as the university seeks to expand its expertise and resources and also to cooperate with researchers and institutions outside Ain Shams University, as well as promoting a culture of cooperation and innovation that transcends geographical borders.

This is based on the university’s firm belief that international partnerships are crucial in addressing global challenges and achieving sustainable development.

Noting that the Joint Science and Technology Forum between the United States and Egypt serves as a platform to enhance such cooperation and strengthen relations between the scientific communities in both countries.

         
   
         

Prof. Walaa Sheta noted that the conclusion of this important gathering, which brought together researchers, experts, leaders and visionaries from both Egypt and the United States, not only highlighted the individual achievements of researchers and innovators, but also highlighted the strength of cross-cultural partnerships. Together we explored new relationships and laid the foundation for future cooperation that will undoubtedly benefit both countries, adding that we have witnessed a dynamic exchange of ideas, knowledge and visions for the future.

Also, thanked the keynote speakers, committee members, supervisors, researchers, and every participant who contributed to enriching this event.

Expressing his keenness to continue promoting innovation, supporting each other in our endeavors, and striving to achieve excellence in everything we do.

The forum witnessed a presentation of the outcomes of the program for financing research projects between the Egyptian and American sides in areas of mutual priority such as health, agriculture, energy, and water.

The scientific forum aims to enhance cooperation between Egyptian researchers and their American partners in projects funded by the Authority and to present the most important successful models of the funded projects. In addition to exchanging ideas and opinions between researchers on projects on a large scale.
